The Thirteen Ascendants (under revision)

All know the tales of the Pale Forest where the Fiends live, they who still follow the old ways. Of the Living, they are said to resemble the Flow the most, ever searching to steal corpses and bodies as they feast on the souls of others. Hunters, they call themselves.

Finnox is one of them. At least, he wishes he could be. For he is still unseasoned when his first Hunt begins. Possessing the body of another and surrounded by unfriendly eyes, he now finds himself inside the Kingdom of Serello, where a single misstep could mean being burned at the stake.

Bound under an oath, a Contract, he must now tread carefully. For the lands of the Aspirants are not so easy when one does not know the rules, and when secrets are so easily uncovered. Their ways are foreign to him, and their cultivation methods perplexing.

While Hunters seek new flesh to inhabit, Aspirants seek to walk the Black Road, for at its end is said to be the key to Ascension, the only way towards worlds free from the influence of the Divines.

And Finnox must now walk it, lest the Contract smother him to pieces.
