Description
After an accident ruins Cole's life, he gets a chance to escape the prison his body has built for him.
Now he can't get enough.
Thrown into a virtual world of endless possibilities, he's intent on living life to the fullest. But it won't be that easy. A nefarious group has popped up in the game, and they're determined to make this world theirs. They might be the ultimate boss. They might be gods of the system. Or they just might be the product of a system that's too powerful.
In this dynamic world, anything is possible: expansion, incursion, and even erasure...
Cole will do everything he can to figure it out. But he must become strong enough to do something about it.
How powerful do you need to be to reshape the system? How powerful do you need to be to stop it from happening?

- ARC-MOONRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, let's do this thing.
So far, I've read about 8 chapters, and it's pretty nice so far in terms of characterization but other than the prologue, it has a lack of litrpg'ing, but that's fine, the story is setting up its characters, so that's fine...
Now I'm going to categorize elements of the story, okay? Okay.
Characters: So far, I've been following Cole and Frank for the past 8 characters. Since I haven't read far enough to make an overall verdict on their characters, I won't say anything definite. Still, I will say the characterization for them is good, and it helps that we're given an idea of what they are thinking, and how their situations make them feel, so you know, good.
Grammer: Nothing bad to say, no glaring grammatical errors, major misspellings, or anything that really catches my attention.
Style: It's clear to understand what is being conveyed, so problems there. I also gotta say, the actions are written well, giving me a clear idea of what's going on without taking up too much time.
While I'm not caught up, it has a good start, so I wish the writer the best of luck.
On a not-so-important note: how do you accidentally run someone over with a bike? This one is gonna keep me up at night, seriously. - Apollo149Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to say I really enjoyed the Prolog. It was full of action and hit hard. The end of the Prolog got me hooked, I wanted to know what was going to happen to our hero.
Our epic warrior sets up the game system. I loved how he was soloing all these epic monsters and battling them. It reminded me of something that might have been a future-AI driven Warcraft.
The other chapters made a 180 shift away from the set up of the Prolog and we start to learn about Cole. He is our True main character. It hits on many feelings and emotions. I would give the story a warning about suicide and such because it has a lot of gritty feelings related to the topic. Cole is struggling with some big/solid problems, such as this rare disease… but he has his demons. The author does a great job connecting us to Cole.
Then, we are introduced to other characters such as Frank. I don’t know how I feel about Frank, but I know that holding on to anger isn’t healthy, but still… when you get there you will know.
Style: This is personal choice on my own…Part of me misses the Prolog hero stuff. I wish some of that might be mixed into the development of Cole. I know it might through off pacing… I just really was hooked into what was going to happen! Only taking a point off because I loved the Prolog so much, I wish there was more of that.
Grammar: I didn’t have any problems.
Story: I was expecting more of the virtual world, but the author does a lot of solid character development for Cole.
It is an interesting take. Very different from other stories I have read on here. It is worth checking out. - Lara Zanatti ReisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Systems Champion is presented to us by a prologue divided into three that give us a clear idea of the:
- The game system - it seems a classical game system with polished visuals
- The narrative the author chooses - straightforward language, easy to read, didn't notice any grammar mistakes was more focus on the story.
- And the impeccable description of actions
You would expect this to be the author's language throughout the novel. A visual base narrative, very detailed but with minimal psychological/emotional intake.
Which is a good narrative, I must confess, but I was wrong.
Although this is true for the prologue, the author presents Cole's Real-Life with genuine human insight without being overdramatic. Cole is shown as a college student who suffers from a rare disease (for spoiler reasons I will not mention) and who still wants to pursue his dream regardless. I have to applaud the author on how he introduces Cole's limitation and presents this rare disorder, which shows there was intense research on the case.
Each character's background is smoothly introduced into the story without any infodump or an avalanche of emotional data that would take us, readers, feel any pity or angst against them.
I'm still trying to understand Frank. But I think that would be up to you to decide. - M.G DriverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great start and great pacing so far. It's a really deep dig into the character's motives, aspirations and desires. I love how it sets up the virtual world as well as the next chapter of the main character's life.
If you like VR fantasy novels, this is a good start, with solid pacing and chapters all around. With the fast pace, you're thrown into the action straight away!
Style:
Extremely fast-paced. Each chapter is short and concise - direct to the point. Action sequences move as fast as the tension it raises, allowing the reader to read in a flow natural to the fight.
The movements are well thought out as well, showing a great amount of effort on the authors part for playing the scene out in their head ( or maybe real life?)
Only reason why I can't give full marks is because of the low word count. I think the low word count of the chapter really hurts the main character's development.
I think with such an accident, the depression would be a lot more hard hitting. I would prefer a longer dwell on the Main Character's perception, though that is just me.
Story:
Great progression, great pacing. The virtual game is intriguing, and the way the world responds to the accident is realistic as well. The characters all respond correctly, and with the fast-paced style the story moves fast.
Grammar:
No major flaws, in fact I don't think I spotted any grammatical errors that threw me off while reading. It was a smooth read overall, 5/5 for sure.
Characters:
Hoo boy, some of the events in the novel really hit pretty close to home. I myself have not experienced such events personally, but I had extremely close friends who attempted something similar, with a few succeeding.
I think while the characters are well developed and we can see their inner desires, perspectives, mood and ambitions, the short chapters (personal opinion) doesn't leave a lot of time for readers to dwell on the issue.
Of course, it's an action story, so the fast pace is expected.
All in all, great read. I'm int - JusttryingtofindawayRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story starts in the middle of the action. Just how I like it! A big fight, some shenanigans. A perfect way to get a reader invested and curious. Although at times a bit rough around the edges this story has potential to coalesce into a very solid web serial.
Style: I gave four stars here because at times the flow of the story wasn't as good as it could've been. Big emotional moments happened and I didn't even register half of it because I had no knowledge that they were supposed to feel important to the story. A few passes for pacing would be very helpful here. Other than that I like the worldbuilding and dialogue.
Story: VRMMO's aren't usually my go to's in the litrpg genre, I feel that they're overdone and lack the raw impact of apocalyptic stories. This is not the case for this story. While the system itself can be confusing at times, what's not confusing is the way the author balances the MC's real world problems with their in game troubles/escapism. It's my favorite part of the story and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Grammar: I spotted a few issues but nothing another read won't fix. Nothing broke my immersion here.
Character: As I said before, the author really knows what he's doing here. At times I wished for more detail into Cole's mind and thoughts as he handles such a difficult disease and what escaping into a VRMMO really does to someone. I hope this continues to be a main theme throughout the story.
