The Sword Sage's Second Chance
Community Rating
Description
The Sage of the Endless Sword is dead,
Killed in ignominious fashion, his soul would have normally entered the afterlife within the Way. But Fate had other plans. Instead, Adama found himself thrust into the body of an unremarkable young man in the world of Gekai. In this world, gods walk amongst mankind and monsters threaten everything as they spawn endlessly from the Dungeon. Adventurers, bearing the blessings of the gods, journey into the Dungeon to cull the monster population, earning money and growing stronger. Adama joins their ranks and soon finds himself in an epic adventure, battling overwhelming odds and vicious beasts. Will this ornery, tough-as-nails protagonist beat the odds and make the most of his second chance? Or will he fall to the looming shadow of defeat once again?
This is a fan fiction isekai novel from two separate worlds.Cradle(Will Wight) andIs it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon(Fujino Oomori) akaDanmachi. The character of the Sword Sage is ripped straight fromCradleas faithfully as I was able, but I have taken some significant creative liberties with some of the characters and plot points from the originalDanmachi, though. I changed quite a few people and events in ways that I thought suited the Sword Sage a bit more. Some of these are pretty radical changes, and if you were hoping for a totally symmetrical merger you have come to the wrong place, but I think that fans of either book, as well as neither will be able to enjoy this. However, quite a fewCradleterms are mentioned and not explained, and I will try to have a glossary for any who are confused. This fanfic is probably most friendly toCradlereaders.

- Jakabo27Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am halfway through this and am enjoying it. It's a faster paced power progression than many full length books, but still does a decent job balancing dungeon fighting, slice of life, some relationships, and added drama. It's definitely scratching the itch I miss from reading Cradle, and has a good variety of characters and personalities
- Sleepy dumbassRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Damn this is complete fire
cradle fics might be rare but yours it certainly up the totem pole in terms of quality
tim really learning from his mistakes and making friends is really refreshing for the soul. And the fight scenes are just cool as hell
I’m really excited for the guy to climb to the top - khoa102Royal Road★★★★ 3.5The story is not bad, but the plot is a bit repetitive, and the characters are lacking. The DanMachi setting plot is already quite simple, with the focus on 1 dungeon, it relies on interesting characters and subplots to keep the story going until the main plot advances. This fanfic works in the same way, but the subplot is a bit uninteresting, and the characters are all a bit bland. Some of the characters are interesting, but we never interact with them much, and we have a very shallow understanding of most characters. Even the MC, who is a sage and can have a very interesting backstory from his rise to power, was never explored much and we only know his character right now
