The first chapter leaves a lot to the imagination with many characters and open questions that the author will need to address as their story progresses. We are shown the main character, a young man named Diocles, who seems to have good intentions with a dislike of bureaucracy. But I predict this attitude will shift as he undergoes a troubling journey, triggered by the death of the emperor. Who killed the emperor and will replace him is still a mystery to me. Overall, I think it's an interesting story, and I'm eager to read what happens next.
