Description

Thaddeus "Bennie" Poundsworth is a simple man, all he wants is to live the simplest life possible. Go to work, get paid, read some stories, watch videos, and if possible hang out with friends only once a month.

All of this changes of course, when he walked out of his office and into a world that he could never have imagined.

He keeps things simple, accepting them as they come, but can this really help him survive in a world where dragons are less scary than a squirrel?

So I read this story because the title intrigued me and the synopsis is interesting. I promised to write an honest review so here goes ..
Overall I like the concept and I think I like Benny. So far the story isn't playing the usual tropes which is a huge bonus in my book and keeps me wondering what's next, which I love. I say I think I like Benny bc the author is doing more telling than showing so we'll see. But having a dragon kidnap you, keep your stats a mystery, and literally have the system chastise you when you take a day off? Yeah, I wanna see where this goes.
The style so far feels cozy fantasy but in guessing that that changes. I say that bc so far his one negative experience resulted in a bruised hand and dinner. Otherwise, he's finding his feet but nothing is overtly threatening him.
As I've said, I find the story intriguing and an eager to see what happens next.
Benny. Benny needs work. Please stop telling us that Benny is a simple guy who wants simple things. He needs a much better inner monologue so we can get to know him. Or we need a narrator who will explain Benny to us, either way, right now what I know is Benny is a simple guy who'd rather sleep than explore and likes a simple life. But who *is* he? Same goes for Alice. I get that the author may be doing a slow tease with info but some of this needs to be written.
Grammar wise there have been a few misspellings, a few missing words, and a couple awkward sentences but nothing that detracts from the story.
I'm rooting for this story, it's got tons of potential and I'm hoping it continues.
