Description
An archmage enrolls in magical university, glad to finally be free of war. Unfortunately, trouble seems to follow him everywhere...
After dealing with monsters spilling from magical Gates and Towers—and worse, the people fighting over the resources of the new world—Syl is happy to be no more than an unremarkable class 3 student with dismal practical scores and a powerful secret at an Aurian magic academy. Assigned to guard the undercover princess, he is content to live school life—right up until people start trying to kill them both.
As outside forces start to close in and Auria hides its weakness from its people, Syl refuses to allow his peace to be trampled on. Once, he was legendary on the battlefield, a voiceless sovereign who left nothing in his wake.
He will show the world why they feared the Silent Archmage.

- RyeN_Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Probably on of the best op MC stories on this site. The stars on this work have no right to be this low.
It has great worldbuilding and story pace. The MC is by no means annoyingly op and the writing just forces you to read on.
The first chapter makes you think this will be a standard solo leveling style gate situation. It is not. The setting is very unique and the magic system is also interesting.
If you want a lighter read with a strong leading character give this a shot, you won't regret it! - Hakan IbrahimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it, despite what everyone else is saying.
The characters leave the impression of thinking people instead of simple NPCs.
The Worldbuilding is pretty good too although the magic system seems a bit unclear to me. That may change in the future, if the author decides to continue the story. - ewrtRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story feels like it's a bit fast/book 1 feels quite short but with that said I very much enjoyed it so far.
The MC fits will into the op category without any of the pitfalls I see in other opmc story.
Hopefully we get the second book or this will feel like a story cut very short. - Walter WhitmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story was quite enjoyable to read
Easy read with a mysterious MC. The subtle hints on who the MC was throught the story great and keep me and others guessing as to who he was, or im just tripping and there were no hints.
Inspired by Irregular at Magic High from what i can gather but i believe this story took its own direction and (i hope) in the future it continues to do so. Remember every story is inspired by something.
I can confidently say i am hopefully and eagerly awaiting book 2. - misssaturnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have read 27 chapters so far and I am liking it. Yeah, I know that there's quite a lot of IMHS (Irregular at Magic High School), but the differences are something that I am enjoying, and that is after I have read almost all the light novels available multiple times. So, please keep the chapters coming.
Even more interested in knowing how Syl's and Bianca's past diverge. Just them not being siblings is a big plus. D:
The side characters don't have much of a presence, but they are interesting.
There're a lot of grammar errors, but not too irritating.
I think that the story is starting to diverge enough to stand as an original too. - erichueRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a well written book worth the time. Well thought-out flow and sequence. A good structure and evolution.
Heavily in the magic space and no "coming of age" or "teen-angst" stuff that turns me off.
Looking forward to future works from the author in this series or another. - StupidPersonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I think the story is good, I know the story that this takes its que's from and I do like that story. It solves the problems I have with the undercover/unknown aspect that the main characters need to have the school life they do, and how the highest level mages would still know them. I personally do not agree with the hate that this is getting there's nothing wrong with taking a story idea and making something new Romeo and Juliette is basically a rip of and older roman story and it's still considered a classic, I hope the positive feedback pushes the author to continue writing. If it does continue or gets a rewrite, the towers aren't explored enough and since there is more flux around them wouldn't they try to find a way to incorporate them into military training or magic school, even with the troubles you've put forward i don't understand why that isn't a priority and makes me wonder about the technology of the world where they have modern tech with current power and fuel replaced with flux, is that a regional thing, did the world bounce back completely and how would that mean so little progress in the fields that the higher ambient flux is so toxic and they have no solution, it almost feels like the plot twist should have been an order of magnitude longer than it was, especially since a monarchy would allow the political problem to persist over time. I really like the story but I think it has a similar problem with my own writing where I try to put too much in to short of a time frame direct current electricity was invented in the 1880's the 90% of us homes didn't have electricity until 1950, in the rest by 1960 it takes time to do things in such a large scale especially with such a good story reason of why it took so long. The setting is wonderful but I think the characters or the timeline don't quite fit right.
- Quiet PupRoyal Road★ 0.5This whole story “borrows” heavily from the Irregular at Magic High School. Even worse than that though is how annoying the main character is. I don’t think I’ve ever read one so aggravating. Has to overly explain and show up every single character he interacts with even though he supposedly is trying to stay undercover. Should’ve just copied the personality of the main character from your source material and labeled this a fan fiction. That would’ve been more honest and readable.
- John SpoonerRoyal Road★ 0.5There is something to be said for stories that "borrow" heavily from others. It's very rare that it doesn't become wholesale copy paste of major points and mechanics. Even rarer that it improves on this original, which this absolutely does not.
Infact it is a worse derivative of the original, and the source material was not that impressive in the first place. It seems there's a general trend of these stories being made all with very little actual stakes, one dimensional characters whose motivation is cruelty in and of itself. - NightshadeBlossomRoyal Road★ 0.5This is basically copied from irregular at magic highschool, as many have pointed out.
Fanfiction is great and all, but please be clear about it, or come up with a more original story.
Even if you end up straying significantly from the source material, you cant honestly call it original work
