Do not lose faith in the Elder Law...

The Shimmer is the fantastic tale of what happens when worlds collide. The world of Ayndir has known little else than war for most of its history. The demon and demi-human races that lurk in the shadows have long since been a scourge against the fifteen Clans of Embrayya. But at the apex of the last war, they slinked back into the shadows, utterly defeated and confined into the Northern Wasted Lands. So when it came time for the current reigning King to secure his legacy, there were no wars left to fight.Save for one. It had been millennia since the denizens of Outworld, creators of the Demon Races, had been banished from Ayndir and their memory faded into legend. But the discovery of an ancient relic breathed new life, and the King's ambition grew, sparking him to rally the forces of Embrayya for the victory to end all victories. They would open the long-forgotten gateway to Outworld and claim their world in the name of Embrayya. It was supposed to be an assured victory. It was supposed to secure the King's legacy in the annals of history.Instead, they opened a gateway to a world vastly more advanced than their own. Those who lived there called it... Earth.Four strangers from different walks of life-- a young noblewoman, a military linguist, a wyvern rider and a television news reporter must now face unexpected dangers hidden deep within time-worn legends that span the histories of two worlds and unlock secrets that threaten the very existence of both.

The characters took a while to properly get introduced, but I was perfectly fine with that. The way the author puts out information feels pretty natural to me, the guy just not info-dumping the reader off the bat(Not that we don't get some heavier amounts of information but it isn't like we choke on it).
I personally enjoy the set-ups for conversation, chapter 3 especially having what I would call a good way to present information about a group. The repeats, misunderstandings, and the way that people argue for their side just makes sense. While some of the earlier word choices did make me raise a brow a few times, I would overall say it was done very well.
    4.5/5 from me.

    O Canada!
When I think of the great North, I think of winter sports, doughnuts, and freindly folks in flannel. In The Shimmer, Canada becomes the center of the world's attention, and not just because Tim Horton's opened a new location – but because of a tree with a portal in it being used to invade our world! It's on Cliveden Avenue just south of Vancouver, by the way.
So, the people of a fantasy world (they're called Embrayyans) use magic to grow something called a world tree, and then walk through the tree into Canada and start a war. How rude! They earn the wrath of every Canadian by attacking a brewery, and the people of Vancouver fight back. Without apologizing. What follows is a thourghouly enjoyable adventure story told from the perspective of multiple people on both sides.
I think the multiple perspectives is what keeps the story fresh, and the authors do a good job of letting each of the characters shine in their own way. The multiple perspectives aren't restricted to the main cast, but also news outlets and government agencies, which is fun.
The narrative style can be a bit flat at times, but it never bored me. Better yet, the authors avoid long-winded prose and stick with a more streamlined style, which I can appreciate. The pacing is on point as well, and it never felt like story beats were lingering too long. The dialogue is decent, and some of my favorite parts have been conversations between characters.
And speaking of the characters, they make this story awesome!
I didn't think I'd like the Ebrayyans at first, especially since they're set up as antagonists, but both Sizilen and Auberon are great viewpoint characters. Sizilen might be the smartest person in the whole conflict, a point which is ignored by her own people because of her social status. Also, she has a lot of heart. Auberon seems like a brutish soldier at first, but he's very attentive and resourceful.
On the side of Earth, the main characters are Faye and Miles. Faye feels like a throwbac

I really love the story I espetially love potential interactions between the civilaszations. I hope that the story doesn't get too dark and focus on relations andd interactions  ut THE chapters can not satisfy my apitite. I know it is difficult to write quality chapters as ofthen as you do but is there any chance chapters getting longer?
