The Shattered Mirror

DeiKou is a world of advanced MagiTech where luxury and squalor coexist. The elite wield elemental magic and cutting-edge technology, living in opulence, while the majority struggle with lives dictated by religious propaganda and deity-based magic.

The MagiNet, a spirit-based internet, is prevalent and accessible to all, allowing for widespread communication and information dissemination. However, access is limited by technological nodes that allow for censorship.

In stark contrast, levitation platforms—marvels that allow buildings to float in the air—are a privilege reserved solely for the elite. These platforms, powered by rare and valuable magic crystals, further underscore the societal divide.

Society is rife with contradictions and tensions, kept in check by various religious factions vying for control. The elite, seeing themselves as gods, maintain their power through elemental magic. Meanwhile, the masses rely on rituals and invocations specific to their religious affiliations for their magic.

The balance begins to shift when Ying Xiong, a fallen prince exiled for his inability to wield conventional magic, discovers that anyone can learn magic. He begins teaching the commoners, sparking discontent and sowing the seeds of revolution. Though he perishes, his knowledge is preserved and spread by his friends: OuYang KuiFong, OuYang MeiEr, Chen Yi.  Li YiTing, a rogue spirit mage, later joins them and uses the MagiNet to disseminate forbidden knowledge.

As the knowledge of magic spreads, the established social order is threatened, and tensions rise. The Southern Barbarians, with their unique social structure and hybrid man-beast chimeras, stand ready to react to the changes sweeping through the other factions. The ever-present war between the factions intensifies, and internal divisions among the elites regarding social mobility and control come to the forefront.

DeiKou stands on the brink of revolution, with the potential to reshape the world. The revolution begins in the East but could spread to other factions, setting the stage for an epic struggle between the elites and the commoners for control over the future of their world.
