    The Sentinel deals with loss and sacrifice, but it does not really define the Sentinel in a concrete way or explain the background, leading to a weak emotional ending that is complicated by the lack of identity the reader would have given the prose. This is good, but it feels incomplete and lacking in a more complete background to pull at the reader better.
