Prologue Arc: The Day That Begins Your Fate - COMPLETED

Story Arc 1: Chaos in the Lamorian Kingdom - ONGOING

Please consider following/leaving a rating.  I plan to turn this into a long lasting series, and it would really mean a whole lot to me.  :)

-----

Having succumb to amnesia, Galvin one day appears in the Grand Forest east of the capital kingdom Lamora. For the next two months, he lives a perfectly carefree yet boring life until one fateful day changed everything. Encountering all sorts of characters and dealing with all sorts of shenanigans, Galvin begins to experience visions of what appears to be the future. With this newfound power in a world full of magic, yet plagued with war, discrimination, and brutality, will Galvin be able to change fate…or die trying?

Do you like stories where the protagonist doesn't start out strong and is deeply character driven (with a LOT of inner monologues)?  A story that has its fair share of comedic and dark moments?  Well then you've come to the right place!  However, if you're looking for LitRPG mechanics, then unfortunately, this story doesn't contain too many of them.  The dynamics of the story will be based on real life physics and mechanics (with a bit of magic of course!)  Also, I delve deeply into a lot of disturbing topics, so readers do be warned.  However, if any of this sounds interesting to you, then please come by and give my story a read.

Expect releases as soon as possible (which is like 4 - 10 days).

Just know that I'm writing this story as it progresses, so a lot of first drafts are to be expected.  :D

A first person told story with a more lighter start. A normal life, then steadily progressing along with interesting luck to say. This story has a good balance between the description and the dialogues, which is pretty rare really. It is lighter in nature, but also a bit ominous to say. Either way, give it a go and see for yourself. 🐕

Okay, so this story is just starting out, and I happen to have read it right up to a mighty climactic moment. It is also hilarious. The main character wakes up with his butt hanging out in a world where everyone has magical powers, excepting himself, and is constantly being assaulted by 'speech magic.'
Style: Easy to read and easy to imagine, it's a speedy read that effortlessly introduces you to its characters and world. Also, you may have some serious trouble keeping a straight face while reading it - the main character's first person perspective, while at many times grossly self-centered, is also so funny that it was pretty much impossible not to chuckle at times.
Grammar: There were a few instances of tense confusion, mainly in the first two chapters, but overall the author has a good command of the english language that reads very easily.
Story: We are early in the story, and I see seeds of a satisfying adventure. Our main character has started out stuck in a bit of a fish out of water scenario where he's forced to work a delivery job in a world full of magic after waking up with amnesia. What follows is slight misadventures borne of his own immaturity and aloofness, all while introducing us to the world of Lamora. There is foreshadowing from the prologue and notes that he's going to experience specific events that set something bigger into motion in the next chapter.
Character: Galvin seals the deal of this story for me, mainly because his unlikeable qualities are balanced out by how melodramatic and funny his observations are about the world around him. He's a bit of astubborn, drunken jerk, but it comes off in a way that makes you smile. There are also his interactions with more mature characters that hint towards potential character growth and development in the future that seem very intentional, and only add to the voerall reading experience. It's like you can laugh and learn at the same time.

What a journey. I have been personally invested in this story for a while, and please keep in mind that I am a bit biased toward the author because he has been contributing to the community by giving out free reviews. This felt like a very personal story of a character to whom you might end up feeling emotionally connected in unexpected ways, at least that’s how I felt personally.
Concept(3/5): The story doesn’t come up with any completely new concepts, but does use various known concepts in a good way. From the interesting power and mystery surrounding the protagonist to the social mechanisms of the fictional world, everything felt familiar yet engaging.
Experience(5/5): The author's writing style feels inexperienced but dedicated. The way he puts you in the shoe of the protagonist and slowly pulls you into his inner world feels refreshing. I often ended up feeling the despair, uncertainty, and the desire to fight back of the protagonist strongly. The uncertainty he felt from the amnesia is slowly built up from the beginning and I liked it. As the writer said, the experience of reading this story is like a curve that slowly ascends and descends in a controlled manner.
Tone(4/5): From humorous to gloomy, the writer weaves in several tones into the story, although it can definitely be improved more.
Philosophy(4/5): Racial tension is a big plot device here. The perceived differences between various races and their drastic consequences are built up in a rather engaging way, albeit in order to stay fair, this is a recurring theme in many different genres.
Psychology(4/5): Bizarre and interesting characters have been introduced in the first ten chapters and they feel like a joy to read about. The inner monologues of the protagonist about his current state feel relatable in many ways, definitely a very likable protagonist for me.
Flow(4/5): The flow could use more work, but it was immersive enough for me. Some might not enjoy reading about how the protagonist gets lost i

We have here a very very quirky protagonist with a lot of self doubts and doublethinking. Their inner monologuing is usually entertaining, especially when they're caught up in their woes of the day. All of ther interactions have been odd in some way, either with characters who give off little emotion or characters with just a little too much reverence. And all of this weirdness lets our MC shine as they try to piece together what the hell is going on.
And that's the unique thing about this story. The MC has amnesia, and they've spent the better part of their time shacked up with an antagonistic roommate referred to only as "old lady". Things quickly take a turn, though, as our MC runs into some nasty guards, and everything begins to fall apart.
It's difficult to say where this is headed in the long run, as we know as much as our MC does (which is nothing), but there are a few mysteries and plot threads set up early on that leave a lot of room for exploration. As I understand it the author is writing as they go, so they could potentialy take this story any way they want.
Sometimes the writing falters a bit, and the MC has a habit of repeating things a little too much in their internal monologues, but a quick run through could easily clean it up. There aren't any striking grammatical errors or spelling mistakes, just a few descriptors that could use a bit of sprucing and livening up.
All in all I think its a fun read, with a lot of comedy and goofiness from the MC, and anyone whose interested in that will really like this!

Let me just preface this review by saying SPOILER ALERT!
With that said, let us begin:
STYLE SCORE: 5/5 I read this up to its most recent chapter. It was seriously fun man. The gritty vicious world, classic furry racism, innocence turned to guilt. Overall it was a great read and I hope that you continue it in some form or another.
STORY SCORE: 4.5/5 This is a great read. The story is well-written, consistent, and makes sense from the standpoint of the characters in the world. Now, with that being said I was a tad frustrated where it ended. Those last two chapters confused me a bit as to what was actually going on. So I hope I can read some future chapters and get some context! Congrats, you hooked me.
GRAMMAR SCORE: 5/5 I saw no errors. Granted I am blind, deaf, and have one eye. My crows help me though.
CHARACTER SCORE: 5/5 Love the development, the pacing, and the fight scenes. The use of magic developments and affinities, while not exactly new, was uniquely employed in this story. It is a combination that I enjoyed and look forward to reading again.
OVERALL SCORE: 5/5 A good story. There were a few speedbumps with the story, but those are mostly personal. I enjoyed the read. It immersed me and I crushed all the chapters in just a few hours.
    Keep up the awesome writing.

That doesn't effect how I will be reviewing but I wanted the author to know I was doing it this way.
    Anyway.
The first would be the lacking fear about using swear-words. I can't say I dislike that since the author doesn't overuse them to the point where it gets annoying. It's used to accentuate points where italics could have been used but weren't really needed. Good enough for that.
    ---
However, there is one thing I couldn't figure out. That would be the --- . Why use those when there's a perfectly fine line built into RR. It's a minor issue I had with formatting. It's decently easy to read regardless. A bit much talking at points but that was fine.

In the first chapter, we see our protagonist struggle with the fact that he doesn't have magic. The protagonist is introspective, intelligent and honestly, relatable in his humor. I'll absolutely be reading this one through.
The flow and grammar aspects of this story are both flawless, in my opinion. The only thing I'd change is to add a little bit more backstory in the beginning so I can empathize with the character.
