- PotassiumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fan fiction is not usually a genre that I read, but sometimes, very occasionally, one fiction will catch my eye, this is an example of this happening, it is still early days, but it is well written, chapters of decent length and regularly updated, so everything one could ask for!
- Rhys SaxtonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For all you Pokémon fans buckle up; this is an amazing series to sink your teeth into, and to those of you who don't do all things poké stick around, because this is a wonderful slice of life/coming of age story about a ranch hand beginning his adventure in a fantasy world and it is wonderful.
Stag has absolutely killed it in terms of grammar, world building, character building and plot, making Return of the annointed, not just my favourite fanfic to read, but one of my personal favourite novels on RR. He's got plans for later volumes, keeps readers in the loop with author notes, and gives advance warning about schedule changes. Big love and big vibes for this one, and if you've stayed and read my review then you should definitely at least give this a try. - SilentClowdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really Great Read let me tell yaa! The Pacing is good I guess but the plot god the plot I really have mix feelings for it in some cases you can pretty much guess in what is going to happen but some are new yes but if you're gonna do a vengeance storyline when I read the part that his dad was going away yeah. The little voice I'm my mind pretty much convince me his sis was going to get taken and the Scizor asking for it to be with the family yeah that was a death flag If I ever seen one coming I'm pretty sure you're MC either start's thinking outside the box (targeting the vital spot's of Pokemon for crippling (emotional) damage or do the smart thing target the defenseless fodder hu are pretty much gonna get curbstomp and something I noticed why doesn't he use Zerg tactics? Or better yet use Solis to hypnotize the fodders I know it's just a day dream of mine cuz I'm preatty sure MC still has his moral high ground going for him yeah how did that work out for him) the point that I'm getting is his a wreck right now half of his family is gone really not sure if his Pa is dead or not but I guess he should still be alive gotta have the MC get more traumatized imma right. What I'm getting at is I like your story the development of the MC I'm invested on it but the plot I've already have 4 hypothesis paths he will take once you start writing now this is my opinion and preference that's influencing me here so pls here me out I'll be gladly waiting on your return.
- NormanBrothersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I loved the use of pokemon in the story and how they had thier own characteristics/ roles instead of just fighting each other in battles. Super excited to see where the adventure goes and what pokemon you incorporate! Is solrock a god or deity of some kind?
I also enjoyed the writing and flow of the story. - AlejoTheBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So like the title says. I found it really hard to stay focused up untill Tommy actually starts at the school, and even then it was slow. However I was between new reads and never disliked it enough to close the tab.
Boy am I glad now. I said "awww" out loud more then once. Some of the Big Plot Points seem to be really odd, and the interludes are odd still but I am loving spendi g time with Tommy. - CircusPonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall, I am very much enjoying this story, and feel that people who enjoy Pokemon should give it a chance. It has interesting battle mechanics and I want to see how the actual gyms and journeys turn out.
The writing flows nicely, as far as I can tell. You don't get kicked out of the story by inconsistencies or odd phrases. You can tell the author is very familiar with the Pokemon franchise.
The storyline itself is very fun. We are with a trainer just starting out at the trainers school, catching his first Pokemon and building a good group of friends along the way. I like that we will get to grow with our main character and his Pokemon as the story continues. You rarely get taken away from the main characters POV as well, which I like.
Grammar and spelling are coming along well, very few, if any, mistakes jumped out at me. This puts the story in the top tier for what I am reading at the moment, which sounds odd to say about a fancfic. I know the author is looking for another editor, though, so I hope chapters don't degrade at all.
The characters seem well thought out, and we know our main wpretty well by nownow, and he is fleshed out enough that I am happy to continue reading. I hope that through the excursions we get to see more of his friend group and learn about them, as well as seeing our main grow and develop. The backgrounds of other characters are happening slowly through interludes right now. - noguerRoyal Road★★ 2.0While the story overall is pretty solid. I can validate that the main character can do no wrong and it is unnable to fail if he choses to do something. It basically has the worst posible traits of a chosen one without any kind of consequence. In the short span of 30 chapters he has been befriended two perfectly lonely beauties, shown to be a godlike pokemon tamer, found two overpowered pokemon, his dad is a "hidden/retired" uber pokemon master and is Lugia's choosen/fated one.
I do love a power fantasy as the next guy but this one is just way too over the top.
Is way more ingaging when the MC overcomes the obstacles with effort and inteligence and not with good genetics and predestination it cheapens the accomplishments.
