Description

A Renegade. Someone with a modified System, and therefore an enemy of the System.

Julian was a Renegade. For years he had known that the system would come, and he was prepared. But something went wrong with his plan, and he found himself in the Tower with a butchered System and barely any information about the Multiverse. He would have to discover his powers, his cheats and his weaknesses as he struggled to survive in this strange new place. But death loomed around every corner, in this vast ruthless Multiverse. Although... death was not going to stop him.

Armed with his intellect, his knowledge from Earth and his quick temper, Julian will have to discover his place in the Multiverse on the path to becoming the strongest. His past will haunt him, with the dreaded discovery of the M-field, the uncertain fate of his family and the System looming above it all. He will make friends, enemies, suffer defeat and endure tremendous losses. All in the name of survival, and carving his own piece of paradise, even if it meant war with the System itself.

---

A classic take on the litRPG genre with a few twists. Follow the steps of a former scientist from Earth as he ventures out into the multiverse. There he will find some friends, lots of enemies and a whole lot of unknowns he will have to investigate. Some things will be familiar too, making him think that maybe something was going on well before the System arrived.

Venture through Floors and Towers, Worlds and Realms, dabble in Cultivation and Level Ups, gain Skills and, most importantly, don’t get Vigor-checked!

I enjoyed this one! Let me break it down for you:
Story: The Renegade System is your typical LitRPG story with some awesome tower climbing action. However this doesn't mean it's boring or overly cliche, the story just knows what it wants to do and delivers on that promise without disappointment. At some point the MC mentions that he wants to speedrun to the top which nicely reflects the story as the author doesn’t any time in its progression.
Character: the MC, Julian, is smart, calm and collected. He isn’t your standard hero but more of an ambitious character (he’s kind of an interesting asshole really) who is trying to hack the very system he is inside of. He’s the stoic type who doesn't bat an eye when things don’t go his way (so far) and is always busy analyzing his situation. I like the author’s choice for this type of character and I generally think this trope works well for LitRPG. For example, when Julian is picking abilities his thought process is very satisfying to read.
Grammar: It is mostly fine. I noticed some minor errors but this isn’t nearly enough to actually hurt the story. The writing is good enough and the sentences flow well.
Style: The style is great. The author displays its stats and tables properly which is always important in this genre. As I mentioned before, the story’s sentences flow well and the story is generally a light (and smooth) read. I noticed myself blowing through it. The story is a tad light on its descriptions and I personally would have liked to see a little more of that. I think this will help the overall immersion.

The first thing I noticed while flipping through this piece was well, the name of the protagonist.
    "Julian V. Terror."
Oh boy we're in for a ride. Aannd I was right. What can I say? this is a pretty interesting take on multiple genres.
Who this is for: This story can really be boiled down to a combination of tropes. It is a LitRPG with an anti-hero protagonist, with a heavy focus on 'tower climbing' / dungeon crawl fantasy on a multiversal cultivation scale. A lot of the worldbuilding reminds me of FromSoft games, i.e Julian's gonna be going around looting runes.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, this is a fit!

What can I say about this story? It’s perfect except for a few things.
Style (5): Story has good flow and keeps your eyes moving. The language used in the narrative is intelligent and creative without being overwhelming. It’s completely easy to understand.
Story (5): Hits the usual marks of other gamelits. So if you want to stick with the usual, you will like this story. It has great personality throughout and the comedy is solid.
Grammar (4.5): Almost perfect with minor errors that aren’t even worth mentioning. I would say use character names more often during dialogue especially if the characters are the same gender.
Characters (4.5): Characters are great with likeable personalities. However, I feel that there is a lack of description when it comes to their looks. Cal is an alien but is described with the barest detail. We don’t know what the main character looks like yet, but there’s a lot of ways to slip in how he looks. Any reflective item can become a mirror. Besides this, the characters are fun, believable, and realistic.
This story will indeed bring a smile to your face. If you are looking for a fun adventure, try this one out.

    Things I liked:
    General pace
The story does not take forever to get started and I really like that. It establishes the main setting, who the MC is, and a general idea of their goal in the story.
    Light on the LITRPG menus
One of the reasons why it’s harder for me to dive into a LITRPG story is the sheer size of some menu screen sections of the story. Here’s it’s less intrusive, and has a nice flow to it. Plus, the game mechanics aren’t ungodly uncomplicated that it takes away from the story.
Though on a side note, that would make for a funny story.
    Exposition
What I really liked of the story was the exposition. It did enough telling to set a scene and let the characters do the rest. And everything else was, more or less, Julian’s internal thought process. It let us be in his head as he’s thinking, so it does simply tell us, and keeping us from investing into the story.
Even in the dialogue it’s short sweet and to the point. Nothing overly stated and drawing the scene out, just to draw the scene out.
    Scene Descriptions
“The air was humid and hot, and the oaks were tall and verdant, surrounded by a rich vegetation dripping with vines and moss. The ground was a carpet of wet decaying leaves that emanated a strong smell of petrichor. In the distance something howled, the sound coming muffled through the thick forest.”
I love how in three sentences, you’re given enough information to form the scene in your head and then move with the plot. This has been a bit of a pet peeve of mine with pages and pages and PAGES of descriptions of stuff
    Cal’Eer
I LOVE this guy! As soon as I met this guy, I loved him. He’s great, easily one of the best characters of the whole book. #Cal’Eer4ever.
    Okay I’ll stop embarrassing myself.
    Consequences
I won’t say what exactly happens to avoid spoilers, but I like how when Julian does something, there’s a consequence. They’re not absolved of any repercussions, which I think is important.
    Things I’d Change:
    Julian’s speech
    With phrases such as “Eve

Tower system apocalypse with a super smart MC hacking the system. Not too many errors in the text and it flows decently. This story is one of the better system apocalypses that I have read. Beware, Julian is anti-hero which some people might not like.
    Lots of mystery and unknown.
I'd give this book a shot if I were you.

Read up to chapter 44 on Scribblehub
A story that hits the ground running only to trip a couple of steps in.
Story - So the story starts strong but it's so fast-paced that it quickly becomes less of a story and more of a checklist (Go here, Do thing, kill antagonist, leave, repeat)
Characters - I'll start this section off by saying it's weak. Two characters stick around for more than 5 chapters the MC and his boyfriend.  I can't say too much due to spoilers but they go from being strangers to friends to being in a relationship and then to eternal lovers? I'm not sure because it happened so fast but Cal(his boyfriend) seems like a plot device to make the character become a killer hobo. The MC goes from being a regular person to a cold-blooded killer in less than 20 chapters and it's only getting worse in the current chapters.
He kills a guy for touching him.
