The Reigning

In the Seven Realms, there are worse fates than death. For in the Seven Realms, where lifetimes are a resource, death is never the end, and the worth of ones life lies in Lineage.

Preserve your Lineage and preserve your standing, family and all, throughout each lifetime in which you revive... Sever your Lineage, and not even the leased scribes bound to the Reigning's reward would recall your shadow.

And as for progression, in the Realms one must serve. From the least of tasks, to the greatest of quests, and even forbidden missions. They must all serve the purpose of the ancient throne, a call to maintain peace in the realms.

For every immortal, common or Reigning seeks service above all. Including the Greats, whose power can topple mountains with the slightest shift of intent.

But when an old advesary revives, threatening to extinguish his most treasured possession, a powerful immortal is forced to choose between the right path, and his obligations as a father to protect his own... A choice that could either strengthen his standing in the Reigning, or sever the thread of his Lineage from the present, and throughout his immortal lifetimes.

Typical chapter length: between 1500 minimum and 2500 maximum.
