- ShadowKing21Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started to read this a while ago, and have been keeping up with it since. Starting this, I was surprised by the good grammar and the great characterization. After reading more, I realized that the world building is done amazingly, and the characters in this story grow at a perfectly reasonable pace, giving great pacing to the story as well. This is a great read, and I recommend to anyone who likes space and time magic.
- ThcooksterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am really loving this story! Binge read it in 2 days. All the characters are very well done, and the mc is realistically smart in some areas and dense in others. Very well done. The plot is well thought out and keeps me on the edge of my seat. A true hidden gem.
- BainshieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"The Prince of Demons" is a fun character driven slice of life story, focused on a human adult being rebirthed into a world of magic as a demon prince baby. The Characters are fun, there's in-depth lore and this was a very fun story to read of a gifted but neglected human being reborn into a world with a loving adorable demon family.
It also kills me to give this only 4.5 stars instead of 5, due to a glaring issue found within the entire story. However, I feel a little better doing so since at the time of this writing the current rating is 4.4
Style: Let's rip the band-aid off with the reason this gets deducted half a star: The guy can't chain together four words without starting a new sentence.
Every point is a new sentence. It's everywhere. Interfering with everything apart from dialog. Over and over. Throughout the story. Making fights flow worse. And stopping proper descriptions
If you can get over that style of writing, the story is a lot of fun and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter. However, this is such a problem through every single chapter that I can't give this the 5 stars it deserves and so nearly reaches.
Story: The story is fantastically told, following our overachieving MC in his various personal problems caused by his neglectful first life, and giving us enough of a glimpse into the world without becoming overbearing. We can see that there's clearly some politics and issues going on, but instead of throwing paragraphs of proper nouns at us, it's explained just as much as the story requires without bogging the flow of the story down.
There's twists and turns, the latest revelations have changed everything, and overall there's a lot of "meat" in this story.
Grammar: Perfectly fine (Apart from the issue mentioned in the style), a few typos but nothing over the top.
Character: This is where the story shines. Every member of the demon family and the extended list of characters are all well fleshed out and realized, with a variety of personalities and h - Madboi1892Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has a similar story across of growth with the main character when compared to numerous other famous stories.
What sets this story apart it he world building and the characters, using common plots like levels, classes and mana the author has built a world unique with different concepts we have yet to explore.
Recommended for fantasy and action. Get a little tedious around the 150 and 200 but push through and it gets a little better. Should have some skips instead of going into so much detail but it's might be unique to the novel. - MirpletRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Gotta start out by saying this story is right up my alley. I love op mc's, and I love baby mc's doing op stuff.
The only 'bad' thing I have to say about this story is the first chapter. At first It honestly threw me off the constant mention of times, but overall, it wasn't that big of a deal especially with the way it's presented.
From there I didn't really see any grammar issues or any other problems with it.
The story being told can followed very well, and it's doing a great job of doing following what it's meant to be about.
The characters are well thought out and have clear personalities. The mention of the past makes the world feel alive and like it's actually been put through the gutter.
Only reading up to chapter five before making this review, I can say, with all honesty, that I have enjoyed reading it and plan to catch up with and keep reading along. I am very interested in the world. I want to know if he gets siblings. I want to see how this mc reacts to possibly becoming emperor and what is the deal with this "Void King" - One 2wo HookRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Before he even becomes Nil, we see the world through Nil's eyes. The author does a great job of usefully using each description of the world and actions of the story to introduce us to our main character, his meticulous nature, and his tiredness of a boring life.
It introduces the theme of Magic discovery excellently, and the magic discovery is also done in a compelling way. Usually i don't like Reincarnated as a baby stories, because its just "MC is so amazing look at this!" But since this story shows off the process of magic so well, the payoffs seem more meaningful.
I like how even with an op reincarnated baby, the author managed to create a storyline with stakes, both real (using too much mana for his body) and using dramatic irony (worried his parents will think he's stupid). It bodes well for the story's construction in the future.
If the author can make grabbing a blanket and listening to ones parents interesting and compelling, I'm excited to see what they can do with a whole storyline! - Rizzler69420Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0erm... i think its more slice of life but... is is quite a sigma story... the characters... they are pretty good... they got tha meat to them... no cap tho lil bro kinda dumb sometimes... like lil bro always doing reckless things with stuff...but wtv thats his kink ig so its fine...
- ArsonRoseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think that is a very good story. I’m not usually into isakais but the framing makes sense and the world building is well done
The magic system feels like it is/has been fully fleshed so even as you are learning how magic works in this setting it has a pretty consistent inner logic
the characters are interesting and the plot is enjoyable
while serious at times there is quite a lot of humor to lighten everything back up
it’s been a fun read so far I’m excited to see where it goes from here - apflbaumRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Take a depressed loner and place him in the body of a baby with the best possible conditions for living in a fantasy world.
A well-written story with alternating POVs. It has two main themes: social interaction and exploring the magic system. And that's what makes the story shine.
It's refreshing to read something nice for a change, parents who are doted with their child, a ridiculously overpowered main character who isn't terribly unsympathetic, and a sophisticated magic system that blends cultivation and western magic quite well. It constantly remains interesting, and the (training-) fights are very exciting. The social interactions are logical, and each character has something unique to love about them.
There are few to none antagonists, the MC hasn't reached teenage years, and we haven't seen much of the world yet. This could be a drawback for some readers, but as my title says: it's simply wholesome. Magical wholesome. My critique or hope, however, would be to see more of the outside world through the MC's eyes. Society has been absent from the story so far. It’s time to see some (minor) problems in the social structure for example or some threats or shortages of some sort.
Anyway I truly enjoyed this so far and it deserves way more attention.
Keep up the good work author. - SSvRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So, the overall story is pretty nice. There are a few grammatical mistakes, but they are not that noticeable and do not really warrant docking a full star for them.
The prose is decent and can be improved upon. Sometimes, it feels a bit off-putting when some words do not fit the scene, but not to the extent that I would not read the book.
The story, for me, seems to be repeating constantly: he discovers something new, almost dies, and his parents fawn over him and praise him. Rinse and repeat. The story is probably built like a feel-good story, but it just seems to not deviate from the same pattern. It gets boring after some time, and takes away the immersion, as you always know, andill get out of the situation stronger. I hope for some tension to showcase that it's not all sunshine and daisies. *spolier*Sure there were some scenes showing them getting ambushed, but that's it, and how the scenes were played out showed that there was no real tension.
For the character. Boy, oh boy, we have a real piece of work here. He dies and instantly seems to adapt to the world around him. A few words showed his shock, and he had completely adapted to the situation. Also, what about his parents in his original world? He dies, and his first thought is not his family or anyone close to him. This breaks immersion for me as even if you do not have a good relationship with your parents, you do not just forget them when you go to a new world. It makes me feel like he has a pretty shallow character. Sure, he has parents who fight all the time, but he seems not to care even if they die in front of him. I hope the character feels some despair for not seeing his original world again.
I can understand how he is able to grasp magic due to his fully developed mind, but he seems to have no problems with it. He just concentrates, and voila, he has it down. Or a life-and-death scenario takes place, and he just gets stronger.
But maybe I'm just nitpicking.
Ultimately, this is a slice-of-life stor
