Lily's father charges him to traverse dangers unknown to open up a wealthy new market far in the north, sending Nathet away with his brother as a guide. NOTE: I have read the full manuscript of this work and am reviewing on that basis.
If you are a history nerd who appreciates a story that is accurate for its setting even down the the minute details.
If you love a good adventure tale with action, warfare, and political intrigue.
If you simply appreciate an excellent stylist and character writer exercising their craft.
You'll not want to miss this one.
Commenting on his grammar and style is almost insulting; the author is a seasoned writer with a ton of polish.
This isn't some drab 19th century historical treading over the same territory as every other historical ever produced. It's not even set in the middle ages, or Rome. It's set in the Ancient Near East, a period I would venture most readers here know little about, and it is written by an expert on the topic who can even read some of the languages.
Setting aside, the comedic timing lands, the slow build up is refreshing, and the payoff is tremendous. You will fall in love with these characters, guarantee it.
Strong recommendation to follow this story as it gets released. It may be a bit different from the usual RR fare genre-wise, but the slow burn building to adventure quality of it makes it less different than you might think. As a fanboy of most of the top fics in the Best and Completed lists, I guarantee you'll get a lot out of this one.
