I don't understand people criticising your story. IMO, it is well built with a description of the new circumstances, adaptation to the new world, highlight that would be a spoiler, learning curve, come back...
To my surprise, some people think it's too long a set-up. I don't. Well done! Hope you won't give up this story like many others. - NKR88Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I found this book through the writathon.
I like this series it’s not the best series ever but, it’s still quite enjoyable to read. That being said the begging chapter didn’t hook me at all. I only started liking the book after chapter 3. I almost just didn’t continue reading but decided to just skim some chapters, and I’m glad I did cause now I’m fully invested in the story. So to anyone reading this review don’t drop if you not hooked right away give it a few more chapters.
Other than that nothing else to really say about the story. I gave it 4.5 mainly cause I’m really enjoying it in the moment might change later idk. I hope more people find this story cause it’s actually quite good. - ArekkusuRoyal Road★★ 1.5I like the general premise of the story.
However, the awkward shift in perspective makes it very difficult to read. In the same sentence, it shifts from third-person to first-person, then back to third-person again. Grammarly is a free resource that can help catch these things.
There is also an excessive use of the protagonist's name. While it is to be expected in a third-person narrative to use the protagonist's name a lot, this feels exceedingly unnecessary in a lot of sentences, and other alternatives should be used. ProWritingAid is another free resource that could be of help for this.
It's also awkward that there's no mention of the protagonist's gaming history in the first chapter. This makes his actions to just go along with the system seem a bit out of place.
I wanted to like this story, but until there are some major changes made, I sadly don't think I'll continue it. I do, however, think there is potential here, and I hope that the story has gotten better past the four chapters I read. Although I don't expect changes to be made to the first few chapters, I'll still keep my eye on this story as I did notice there was a note of the last edit made. - EldritchLoreseekerRoyal Road★ 1.0This was terrible to read from a story stand point.
The writing is ok, but rough the first chapter or so, with random view changes until the author finally got it down right.
Story wise...it's billed as a lightning mage tower climber. The story having the mc join a party to do so. The MC is supposed to get training four or five times but for some inexplicable reason the group always has better things to do than give him the fund for the training he's been promised. And he says nothing about it. No one apologizes no one says anything. The main character is a doormat.
MC is complaining about not wanting to fall behind and not doing enough damage to get the exp to keep up with the party, because he can't use his magic. He needs training to use his magic.....but says nothing to the party about the funds for the training? Even tho by chapter 21 the entire party (minus the MC for some reason) has had the party pay for training. Hell st chapter 21 some of the members go get training for a second time..and mc still hasn't even gotten raining once. FFS. MC is a doormat being used.
Weak to strong? Weak to staying weaker. 22 chapters in and I've seen the tiniest amount of character growth, and the only things that are different is some numbers on his status. No training montage, no figuring out of his powers, he's a mage...wielding knives in close combat.
In conclusion: not what it was billed as. Tags aren't consistent with what the story is. Character development is mediocre, power progression is non-existent. All in all felt like... a Waste of my time.
