Description
New chapters once a week on Fridays at 6 PM!SummaryJudgement Day came and went, and humanity still remained. In a single city they found safety, and in a single city most remain. The city has bred classism like never before. The richest scheme to overthrow the bureaucracy, the poor are forced into lives of crime and murder, and the city itself is corrupt to it's core. And now, the past two decades have seen the advent of 'Soulflares', awakenings of power in specific humans that draw upon their core traits to grant them superhuman abilities. Most people thought God was giving them the strength to save humanity, but Soulflares only proved that God had abandoned mankind, bringing out the worst in their wielders and causing those without them to lust for power like the chosen few who awakened. But one man hasn't lost himself yet. The very first one to awaken his Soulflare. An exile in The Wastelands, told to leave the city by an Angel, Pouria, once the mayor of the city, believes humanity to be doomed. But two years after he leaves, he is told that his dear city is still alive, and more corrupt than ever. It becomes clear what he must do...He must return to his home, gather his old friends back together, and throw the new government a little party...A pizza party.
What To ExpectA three-part book series dedicated to my friends who inspired me to make this book for them.Expect a sharp plot that moves forward quickly, brutal superhuman combat, character-focused story telling, huge twists, deep and engaging people with a lot to hide, and a critique on modern society that isn't really that deep... but it sure is entertaining! All in a world full of big sci-fi corporations, angry wrestlers with guns, vigilantism, evil religions, bad movie reviews that start gang wars, ice puns, and six-foot-tall bulletproof teddy bears!Arc 1 is fully completed and readable. The book is on a break until Arc 2 is finished. There are three arcs planned in total.Thumbnail by Zombie07King (He's Doctor Ibmoz in the book!)

- AlexDaDawgRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has been pretty good so far! Arc 1 definitely was a read, introducing many of the core locations and characters, and I'm really hyped for Arc 2! A lot of love was put into this story and you can just tell, and that's what makes a book so great. :)
Only cons I have is that things can seem overly detailed sometimes, creating a paragraph that didn't need to be there and even then, some of those lines could use some improvement!
Other than that, really good story. Characters are easy to root for, and the environment is vivid! Even when things seem overly detailed, Penove does a great job at telling you what the world he's building is like. It makes it easier to imagine and allows you to put away your disbelief for the time you're reading. And as an author myself, that's the best kind of story! It really makes you feel like you're there and fighting alongside these characters, and like I said, that's where a good story truly gets it's advantages over one that's short and doesn't give you much immersion.
Please read this story if you can! It's a fairly good read and it's hard to put down! Overall, it's definitely underrated and deserves more attention from the general viewers! - BrokenAmbitionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An interesting new tale in a dystopian world. This story features intriguing characters and a unique power system. I’ll keep my review spoiler-free.
Style
Pros: The writing suits the genre perfectly, showcasing the author's polished style and evident passion for the story.
Cons: Sometimes the writing is overly detailed, especially in the prologue and early chapters, which can be confusing. This improves as the story progresses.
Grammar
Pros: The author's excellent English skills are commendable! I almost have no cons to point out!
Cons: A few sentences could be better structured or split for easier reading.
Story
Pros: The captivating plot demands your attention and fulfills the promises made in the blurb.
Cons: The pacing feels rushed at times, with certain decisions and twists occurring too quickly. The prologue could be split into smaller parts to improve readability.
Characters
Pros: The characters are unique and well-developed, enhancing immersion in the dystopian world.
Cons: Some personality traits of the main character, especially given his former position as mayor, seem inconsistent. His competence fluctuates, leading to avoidable mistakes.
Conclusion
A well-crafted story with a thought-out plot and excellent characters, despite some issues with the protagonist. It's a hidden gem that deserves more attention, and future readers will likely enjoy this wonderful story. The author should be proud. 5 stars for the excellent work overall! - CapnPhantomRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book really made me attracted to reading slightly more, and I used to believe that it was quite boring. This is not bias, this book was made by my friend and he had so much passions with it that he even decided to read the entirety of it in a voice chat out loud which was really something me and my friends truly enjoyed. I'd definitely recommend the book even if you don't have the entirety of the context behind it.
- DustierMouse73Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Before I get into full detail, I just want to say that this book has single-handedly gotten me back into reading as a hobby again. That is a very impressive achievement, and I believe this is the perfect book to do something like that.
Style - I absolutely love the overall environment and mood of the story. The futuristic neon-like vibe of the interior of Soulflare Metropolis mixed with the post-apocalyptic feel of the wastelands outside the city make for an awesome setting for the story to take place.
Story - The story, although slightly confusing at certain points, is incredibly engaging. There’s an overall sense of mystery, making every little detail feel just as important. Despite only Arc 1 being complete, I’m excited to see where the story goes from here.
Grammar - The grammar is really good all throughout the story. The dialogue between characters feels fluent and realistic, and the world feels much more alive and enhanced as a result.
Character - I absolutely love how each character is different in terms of personality and design. Everyone feels like their own unique person, which is a thing that I see a lot of other authors struggle with in stories.
Conclusion - Overall, I love how the story turned out, and I’m super excited to see more in the future. If you have freetime, I highly recommend you read this story. Trust me, it’ll be worth your time. - FrozenBlueberryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The style of the book is amazing. It is told in a various point of view change that allows to reader to not only learn what is happening during to story, but also what happened for the story to even take place. This allows whoever is reading to have an understanding throughout the book as the story unfolds.
The grammar is also very solid throughout reading the book. I didn’t really see much issues throughout my experience with any grammatical errors(though I am not the best at spotting them).
The story itself is amazing. While only arc 1 of 3 as the author states, it still holds strong to give a glimpse of what is yet to come. The ending was well written and all the events leading up to the climax had it built up perfectly. Reading and seeing the events unfold was like having a feast for the eyes. It was easy to imagine how the story was going while reading and never once did I find myself bored of the story.
and finally the characters. Each character in this story is based around one of the authors friends(while not a direct mirror of their personalities though). The whole story is. Each character is portrayed super well in the story and well written, however there is one character I want to talk about, that character being Blue, the character that was written to represent me in the story. Blue is probably one of the best characters in the story because he shows to have his own motivations while also seeming to be able to put on a facade for everyone else. It is unclear whether he genuinely wants to help or if he has his own plans. Which is what has me hooked for arc 2 and 3 to see where his character develops. He shows capable of disposing those who get in his way while also being able to somewhat arcade under some sort of nice guy. And that has me hooked for his character development.
overall this is a must-read. If you haven’t read this book you are missing out on one of the best reads of your life. - ScraphagnaxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story was one of the best things I have ever laid my eyes upon, when I read this with some friends I was invested for hours and got genuinely interested in the story, Pouria and Blue were personally my favorite characters, please keep doing stuff like this it is amazing!
