Community Rating
Description
Ranma is a martial artist, and a teenage boy. At least, sheusedto be.
After an attack leaves Ranma trapped in a feminine body she never asked for, and unable to take a hit, her life as she knew it is over. She runs from her home and her abusive father, and after spending a few months homeless in Tokyo, takes a job in a bar called the Phoenix run by a found family consisting of the bar's matriarch owner and four hard-luck women she took under her wing as teenagers. At the Phoenix, Ranma finds a place where she can be accepted and "normal," begins to deal with the trauma she's been though, and experiences the first unconditional love she's ever known. As she does so, she begins to embrace her new life as a young woman, discovers a new talent and potential career in music, and rises from the ashes of the life she once knew. This uplifting tale of healing, love and triumph will leave you cheering!
Phoenix Ignitedis part 1 of thePhoenix Saga, along withPhoenix Ascendant(part 2)andPhoenix Odyssey(part 3),with the finale part 4 planned for 2026. As my writing style has improved, I've come to realize thatIgnitedis not fully up to the standard I am setting now withOdysseyand beyond, and so I've started thePhoenix Saga Reignitedproject to re-writeIgnitedin its entirety. I am halfway done (books I and II) with books III and IV to be done in Spring 2026. Istronglyencourage new readers to start withReignitedinstead of here, and then switch over toIgnitedif you want to keep going past when the rewrite ends (until such time as it's finished.)
This first story is a complete work. If you want to be notified when new chapters post, please follow me as an author rather than this story.
Phoenix is aRanma 1/2fanfiction, but no prior fandom knowledge is required to read and enjoyPhoenix Ignitedand its sequels.

- dark112Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I saw this expecting a wuxia novel, but i read the summary and I'm pretty sure this is a fanfic of ranma 1/2, I'm excited to read this latter because I've never heard of a fanfic for ranma 1/2 and i might rewatch it then come back to this, so I don't get lost.
- Anabel SnowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You will regret it if you don't give this story a chance!
Just read 140 chapters in 2 days after finding this story. This is one the best stories I've ever read! Can't believe it's so long and so good and has little attention. I never really watched much Ranma, but didn't feel that I lost much while reading due to this because everything is written so well. I also don't usually read fanfiction. Although there were obviously ties to the ranma universe in this story, I think those parts could have easily been removed and the story would stand on its own and still be amazing. It feels like a real published-quality story so don't let the fanfiction aspect scare you away.
This story is a real tearjerker. Tears of happiness and sadness. I don't think I've ever cried this much.
Amazingly hit on themes: Found-family. Yuri relationship. Self-discovery and finding yourself. Battling and overcoming past demons. Self-sacrifice. Coming of age. - Arteris EntriRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Have I got your attention? Good.
You need to read this fiction, even if you don't know the source. I didn't have the slightest idea where it was from, and I'm leaving this review. If you've made it here and spent the time to look at the reviews, you are a little bit curious. I am here to tell you that this is just that good. This is not for a review swap, this is not because I know the author. This is just that good. That's it, that's all, go read it.
Still here? Maybe you're thinking, "but it's a Fan Fiction, how good could it possibly be?" My answer? You've got that wrong, this is fiction that somehow ended up in someone else's universe. It absolutely stands on its own two legs, wayyy outside the original fictions scope.
Now let's get into why:
GRAMMAR:
It's good, no issues in any way I could find. In fact, the formatting is great and actively helps make the story better.
STORY:
This is a fully comprehensible and understandable story, with no need to have any understanding of the origin that it comes from. There are no loose and random plot threads coming in from nowhere because "they are happening in the show" there are no "you should already know this from the original thing" none of that. Instead, we get a story that immediately sends itself on its own understandable and unique trajectory. The story is about a girl just coming of age who has to deal with the mother of all gender dysphoria. You see, they never wanted to be a girl. Seeing this main character have to deal with the reality that they might not just need to, but also actively enjoy embracing their feminine side, while also not needing to abandon who they are, is an absolute treat to read and done incredibly well. Interested? Read it.
CHARACTER:
You might be concerned again here, "it's a fanfic, I'm going to be so lost I won't know who anyone is." I will promise you this is not a problem, instead it makes the story more interesting. When you don't know who the characters are or what is going on in th - BelhamboneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Excellent dialogue, narrative, character development. Writing that really brings the story alive! This could have been a shallow fan fic but it builds things up excellent and adds dimensions that was not present in the original work.
I think this stands alone as a great work of writing and a solid story. - Cassandra wRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Some familiarity with the events leading up to the story is helpful but not really necessary. The story goes in a totally different direction from the anime but in a good way. The anime was a rom com with slapstick martial arts but this drops all the cartoonishly silly stuff and rom com misunderstandings to make the characters feel more like real people.
There's more character growth in the first 25 chapters than I can remember from the whole anime. The growth feels organic too, none of it felt forced or out of character.
Due to the basic premise of the story there's a lot of things in the story that trans people (such as myself) are probably going to react strongly to. Sometimes it's an event like symbolically letting go of who they were and sometimes it's just a couple of lines but I had to take a break more than once to cry a little before I could start reading again.
I agree with some of the other reviews, this is best fan fiction ever written. It's better than a lot of books written by professional authors that I've read. I wish I could see this made as an anime instead of the remake Netflix is showing. - CestarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I expected this story to suck, in fact I have passed over it a good dozen times now because I was sure it would suck, then I saw the description for the other book (book 5 i suppose) and thought 'wait a minute, this sounds kinda interesting', so I went in, still expecting it to suck mind you...
But instead I was hooked.
There's a very unscientific method I have to notice if I have been reading something truly great, and that is 'how much am I skimming?'
I skim a lot, I have read hundreds of webfics so there is a lot of 'yeah yeah, I read that a 100 times already' which leads to me skimming mountains of text just to see if there is a good story buried under it (usually there isn't...)
By that measuring stick this story was absolutely top notch for the first 50 or so chapters, I barely skimmed a single word by that point. Then it took some turns that didn't sit right with me (but well, not like an author can please everyone), and certain scenes started to feel repetitive, so by the end of chapter 100 I would say I was skimming not quite as much as the average RR story, but about halfway there still.
But the first 40 or 50 chapters really were masterpiece tier. I would not be surprised if the author is secretly a professional writer, that's how good this was. And even at the end, it is still good enough for me to go on to that book 5 too despite some of the quality diminishing.
A lot of this story is slice of life, which I normally actually dislike, but in this story for some reason I loved it.
I only really have one major complaint. Ranko and
Akane's
Relationship doesn't get the coverage it deserves, they start dating pretty early (which was a welcome surprise) but since then their relationship has barely progressed beyond the (very) occasional kiss and they honestly barely spend any time together, but when they do it is very sweet.
That was my only major complaint and the reason I originally deducted half a star from this rating, everything else I disliked is relati - YumemRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I often find myself at a loss for words to describe how much I adore reading—it's a rare and precious passion of mine.
Empathy and strong emotions don't come easily to me in everyday life. However, every so often, I stumble upon a piece of fanfiction that is a true treasure, one that allows me to deeply connect with the characters' joys, pains, and growth.
This particular story swept me away; I dove headfirst into the narrative and bonded with the characters. The writing style was not just enjoyable but brought the characters to life in a way that felt almost tangible. Watching our heroine evolve, witnessing her transformation—it was profoundly moving. It's these moments of connection and emotional journey that make each chapter unforgettable. - AdiAdiAdiAdiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm not incredibly sure that reading Ranma as trans in this is how it was intended but I do think it does a pretty good job of representing it this way, even if that wasnt the intent. Probably one of the few developed stories with a 'trans' character on the site. And might stand out for that alone, but it's really the writing vibes and enjoyability that drives it home.
On a slightly different topic, I would question the progression tag as it's generally used on the site at large as the mc doesn't demonstrate a desire to progress in power or skill as it comes to fighting. Though I would absolutely agree that there is progression in a broader sense the plot never really seems to sag and it remains engaging.
If you want something decently fun with a found family element and to an extent something like "secret identity" then this might be pretty appealing.
As a bit of an aside I would also absolutely recommend this to people who liked RE:trailer trash as i think they both seem to tug on the heart strings in a similar ish way with very different stories tho.
But yeah- would highly recommend just don't go in expecting progfan or xianxia or smth :D Closer to the 5 star side of 4.5 - SpielmikaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I wrote a review before this complaining about the pacing of the story and that i felt like some chapters just ended in the middle of conversations and the next chapter just starts of on a different day, but i still came back to it and finished the book. I still stand by my first comment, however i did increase my rating a bit since the story did entertain me quite well.
