- Sledor12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has surprised me, I wasn't sure if I would like it because im not usually a fan of cultivation books. So I'm glad to say that I actually like The story so far. The main character is really interesting and I'm eager to see how she develops. The first few chapters of the story really pulled me in and I was confused at first what is had to do with the story description but it came together really well.
- SeleroanRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Story wise, I have enjoyed what I have read...
However, around chapter 20 or so, suddenly the author just completely forgets how to write in English. Commas start dancing, around in sentences, like a William Shatner, parody. Tautologies start crowding in like a bunch of sentences all trying to say the same thing over again. But this time they are just saying the same thing over again like a person who can't stop saying the same thing over again. Also, weirdly, the use of the possessive " 's " just vanishes.
In short, the edited bits are pretty good. But the rest is close to unreadable. - ViolentViolet41Royal Road★★★ 3.0There is am interesting premise, that of a genetically modified person being transplanted, and her background was interesting, I would like to read more of that. The rather blatant statement of her unique bloodline in this body makes a nice counterpoint, although it is extremely blatant. The main character comes across as intelligent, in her background at least, although it is brought into question in a few parts. She both struggles and has easy victory in quite a few things. This story seems to be very fast paced, despite the setting looking like it will take time.
It also seems to fall into the same patterns as many xianxia. "Oh no I'm weak," "oh look at this massive power-up i get," "Its still a strugg- wait nevermind," and "I am progressing quickly and that is my stuggle." This along with completely nonexistent observational skills. Wait, its your bloodline. Pheonix stuff. Don't mention bloodline. Oh we have pheonix blood but only knowledge otherwise. Oh look we gave you a cultivation technique especially for you-the 'divine pheonix' part means nothing special.
The other issue I have is less than those, and may be addressed later. There were only 25 chapters when I found this. But several of them were spent investing in the younger Jayde, and I felt honestly curious about what will happen with her now. She also had the soul-swap. The author could be planning on getting to her later, or not at all.
Overall, the story has it's interesting parts, but it falls flat. I have no issue with xianxia progression. This simply gets dissapointing with how commontype it is going, despite the nice flavor. - SquirrelkRoyal Road★★ 1.5This story makes me want to like it but gives me no reason at all to be interested in the characters.
The MC has a top notch backstory and it's amazing that the moment the story transitions from that backstory to the main story all of a sudden the MC becomes a damn emotional spoon. I would say the author is trying to write an apathetic character but the MC manages to pull enthuasim out of her ass for cause she has no reason to care about.
Side characters are straight up cringey stereotype xianxia villians that really just make me vomit.
TLDR; The backstory should be the story. - WolfieRoyal Road★★ 1.5Short sum up:
Initially (first 20 chaps) the novel feels a lot like a mix of and . So if you like those and like reality bending like a blade of grass to facilitate mc needs. You will probably like this novel as well.
Style and grammar:
Not much to have against, compared to others. 2 major things are notorious breaking of the 4th wall and sometimes wrong use of English. Sometimes other errors sneak in, but not much.
Story:
Plot is in the same condition as most polish roads - holes filled with something, allowing more holes to form inside. While sci-fi twist is something new, it's done terribly imho, and the best part of it is that fortunately after few chapters it is GONE (hopefully it has not laid eggs).
Thing that can annoy many is that research about what is written is lacking. It doesn't pop up often, and mostly amounts to things like the way to craft a torch and other technicall stuff, but it is there.
The plot armour around mc is so thick that we cannot see her without drilling for a few hours. Following lore and setting mc should die every 2nd chapter but.... surprise, surprise! She does not! And her magnificent excellence shall crush every fool that stands against her, be it brainless antagonists or monsters that just happens to be at convenient power level by pure coincidence *wink, wink*. And all of these despite her not being at any reasonable level (which gives exponential gains, so every decently powerfull character is able to propel 600 kg to 2nd cosmic velocity with a twist of a hand) but being stronger than fools that should be several times stronger, but her mc-ness shall overcome all odds!
