I don't know if this is allowed, but I'm quoting my review from the first book below as well.
Terrific.  It's more of the same.  Great mystery, great action, great characters.  This second book seems to be where the story is really coming into it's own, finding more pacing.  I love to see all the characters and arcs and ideas from the first book are continuing here, gaining significance and weaving a beautiful web of stories that I find very hard to predict!
    "This one is a rollercoaster.
First, just a confession, I came across this first on RR but then got the whole book from Amazon because it was free.  The one thing I find a big drawback on RR is having to view it on my phone, or tablet or pc.  I love using a kindle (monsters or not, Amazon make a great ereader).  I wish there was a way to read RR on kindle, but I guess there are some pretty obvious reasons why certain parties mightn't be into that.
I haven't been sucked into a book like this since Bag of Bones by Stephen King.  And, to be clear, the two bare no resemblance.
I saw another reviewer calling this slow to start but I couldn't disagree more.  The story picks you up, whisks you off on a torrent of action, pelting you with mystery after mystery all the way along. I won't spoil anything about the end of the book but I will say that it does a very nice job of wrapping up the active story archs, but it's pretty clear this is just the start of something really huge, with so many characters, plots, different parties and plots, it's brilliant and it kept me guessing all the way through.  The characters are so interesting, I fell in love with them, some faster than others, but by the end I was invested in everyone, all their different backstories, motives, and they're so colorful.  Father O'Conner is a like a low key favorite of mine, but I think everyone has to love Homer and Stryker.  Ardia is like the perfect leading lady, strong, confident, commanding, powerful, she has her flaws too but they have nothing c
