Description

Rejected yet again, Alice falls far enough into despair that she downloads a visual novel dating sim to try and learn how to better appeal to men. However, she inadvertently fell for a troll game, the “good end” being her character’s untimely death. Exhausted and quite drunk, she passes out. What happens next is a mystery, but, when she comes to, she’s being pulled out onto a riverbank. Taking stock of her surroundings, she realises she’s now Albert—the protagonist from the dating sim. Assuming she’d died and gone to a personalised hell, she prepares to live out her life in his body. But will her future lead her down the same paths as the ones laid out in the dating sim, or will she be able to create her own ending?

This is exactly what I was looking for. I wish I could find more books like this on RR. It is short, but it does not feel rushed; perfectly comfortable in its own length.
The story is written with a similar structure as a visual novel. Setting up the scenario and then cycling through the various bad ends before getting to the end. It is a very effective way to get to know all of the characters without having to change the structure of the story. The MC is already familiar with all of the characters so this format allows the audience to get to know the characters so that the true end will flow properly.

Very much enjoyed the read. The grammer was impeccable and the writing style very easy to read as well. Gave good Austen vibes. Don't want to write too much since the story is fairly short, and I don't want to give spoilers, but its defintely an interesting take on the isekai genre.

This story is a weird beast. Don't know how exactly to rate it.
I started to read it purely by accident. It's actually a short story made up from 8 chapters.. and I usually never read anything with a tag "short story". Well, when I started to read it, it didn't have that tag, and it was still "ongoing" - around chapter 2, I think.
In the end I feel like I respect what the author did with it. It's thoughtful, emotional. Explores unusual emotions and choices - unusual in a sense that they don't write about these things often, but it doesn't mean that those are not relevant or not relatable. It also has profound moments.
It's not The Best Book for Everyone, but it has inner consistency, weird but fun structure of ending, relatable characters, neat balance of ups and downs, and tricks and ideas to think about on dark evenings.
I enjoyed it on a level of 4/5 (where 0/5 is apathy, 5/5 is Wandering Inn), but I rate it as 5/5 because I respect a finely and carefuly weaved subtle work of art (it takes a lot of passion and time to make those right).

This is a comforting read for those who enjoyed romance stories from wattpad's glory days. While not extraordinary, the story has a charm to it in how describes situations playing out that I have not seen in a long time. I genuinely think that this is a piece of art the author should be proud of.

Short and sweet. It did feel a bit repetitive for the ‘arcs’ but different enough to not be too bad.
I liked the emotions shown and that it ended on a good note. Not sure my heart could’ve taken that second to last arc as the end and been okay.

This story is interactive, it gives you multiple endings. I read each one and I thought they were arranged in increasingly satisfying order. This was an original trapped in a literal game story and for added 8nterest, trapped in a different body. It's a sweet story so we don't really explore much about the gender swap thing which was a lost opportunity. Still, it was compelling and different. I will look out more by the author.

It was an okay read for a short fiction, but for a story focusing on the protagonist's POV, there was a ton of missed opportunities to really flesh Alice/Albert (Alibert?) as a person. There is close to no extrapolation on his life outside of the three "female leads" despite the promising premise, and he honestly has no discernible plot motive or purpose. It's really less of an arc based narrative and more of a continuous train of thoughts following what-if scenarios and alternate endings, except this train is also mostly void of emotion or sentimentality- which can be attributed to Alibert's detached and coldly logical personality, but it also doesn't do much to attach the reader to him.
Impeccable writing though, which brings my personal rating up a little. Otherwise, an average but admittedly forgettable read.
