Description

When a young dwarf named Yorvig travels to a mining claim in the wilds of the Red Ridges, he learns by hard experience that his fellow prospectors are more focused on ore than survival. Thinking he alone can hold disaster at bay, Yorvig plots his way to becoming captain of the mine. He only expected to lead in a fight against starvation, but far greater danger arrives in forms both fair and foul. The mine grows beyond what they ever imagined, and while Yorvig's authority must grow with it, the challenges of love and loyalty will not make it easy—nor will the old foe determined to drive the dwarven folk from the Red Ridges.

The worldbuilding in this story is incredible. I feel like I'm actually there in the dell, watching events unfold. I love the dwarven language, the descriptions of Deep Cut, the customs and the deliberate manner of speech. This has to be the best fantasy story I've ever read on RR. Easily in my top 3 favorites overall.

This is a fantastic tale of dwarves.
when I first jumped in, I got lost a bit with all the dwarf names, but each dwarf has pretty solid characterization and it never becomes hard to tell who’s who. Not only that, but they all feel very much like dwarves, which is no mean feat.
Aside from solidly dwarfish characterization, the detail work into base building is also well done. It gives just enough detail to keep you interested in what the MC is working on, without giving so many as to bog down the story.
A well told and entertaining dwarven base building story.

A really excellent story. Straight-up fantasy without LitRPG text boxes (though I enjoy a good LitRPG as much as the next person, there is something very satisfying about a world of its own), very good writing and grammar, and delightfully complete!
The worldbuilding is definitely first-rate. Within a few chapters, the place felt real to me. There’s evidently more going on in the world than the main character (and the readers through him) gets to experience personally. The plot … I won’t spoil it, but it ended up more dramatic than I expected at the beginning!
The characters feel … dwarf-y, shall we say? As one imagines a race of fantasy-genre dwarves ought to be. Very well done. The main character is the only one whose thoughts we get to hear, but I thought the other characters good too - individual, consistent, no exaggerated stereotypes or bizarre personalities. Sometimes the young or the lovelorn can behave in an annoying way … but that is realistic for the young or the love-stricken!
In short, I highly recommend The Mine Lord.

    Thank you for the story.
It was sharp, to the point, endearing. Like a dwarf ;)
I look forward to your other dwarves stories ! They'll surely be as enjoyable. The new cover is also more accurate than the first one, congrats to the artist.
Maybe one can hope this will spread dwarf love around ?

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this reads like Tolkien and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're looking for entertainment for a long journey, this is perfect. I'm not sure when I'll get around to reading the other books, but I've added them all to my list.
    The world building is awesome!!

This is a pretty good story. Very nice buildup fase where the threats are mostly distant, with the occasonal enemy sniffing around the dwarven claim. Very much how I think a dwarven claim would work, at least after some sense was brought to the table and the mining became a secondary concern in favor of building up a proper dwarven mine with defences and interior tunnels.
Wish there was a patreon though with a couple extra chapters as i'm dying to know what comes next. Can't give a better endorsement than that, i keep looking at the page to see if it has updated.

Dwarfs are not the most sexy thing to write about in fantasy, but the story was just that good. In the middle there, I was ready for 7 books of slow dwarven expansion! But I understand the desire to wrap it up quickly. I love the feeling of history and culture you pulled off with the dwarfs, and it really made me want to read your other novels. The characters were great, though I feel you got a little rushed at the end. I really like your world-building and the more brutal and insightful take on goblins. All in all, it was a great read.

    The story is good!
Pace is fast but the author spends time and demonstrated skills in developing the characters. Thanks for sharing this world with us and for allowing us to walk alongside those dwarfs. Strong story telling skills backed up by some very good writing. It makes me want to read the other novels in the series. Again thank you.
