    The story here has essentially a bit too much going on in terms of background to really hold the reader's interest. The story of the first wife begins what is an interesting tale, actions of the husband and how it plays out is a bit washed over - but it proceeds well enough. The mid point is when the expectation of having the tale get to the point is delayed by two more detours before the conclusion. This seems a bit lengthy even for a short story because of how much telling is happening. It is good, but it is unbalanced by that.
