Description

The Empire reigns, a multitude of known galaxies in their grasp through sheer force of arms and manipulation. Tried and found guilty of more than simple treason, Kellin is sentenced to a banishment reserved for those in the Military, the System asked to dispose of the heinous criminal in a farce of public exile. When the portal summoned to end him destabilizes, Kellin finds himself with a unique opportunity, further than the reach his former nation controls but under the constant threat of what lurks all around him; For there is a reason the Empire had abandoned life on the surface of its planets, and Kellin is going to find out first hand why.

Maybe no magic but I'm hopeful based on some things said so far that we'll see more than just sci-fi in this book.
anyway, I like it! Unique approach! MC isn't a teenager so there is hopefully no fear of love and dancing around the topic of right and wrong and "oooo my feelings I must hide them" and "oh I can't possibly kill him even though he tried to murder me and all my friends eeee"
It seems author is trying to incorporate sci-fi into a system controlled universe so we'll see how that goes, but I'm looking forward to the development. Tech trees would be neat!
here's to more chapters like the first 6! Giving it a huge 5* because I want to see it near top lists soon. It's a bit of a hidden gem right now as the first chapters came out a week or two ago. Maybe it doesn't deserve that yet but who cares, gypsy ftw
Oh, last but not least, the guy starts on his new world bleeding silver out of his metallic combat suit and watching it mend itself in terror. If that doesn't peak your curiosity then I have no idea what would.

Interesting, well structured, good grammar, like-able characters, and overall well written. I have only read the first few chapters so far but I definitely want to see it through. I will include an advanced review after I've had a chance to read more.

Having read further into the book, it does not disappoint. The premise is refreshingly unique. A well balanced mix of adventure, mystery, and character interaction / development. I feel like I've seen Gyps and Kellin make an incredible amount of growth in a short period of time. Already very invested in them as characters.
The governing mechanics the universe (probably my favorite part of the novel) adds considerable depth to the story. All of the upgrades, skill, and weapons choices feel like they will have a strong impact as the book progresses. I can't wait to see how their choices both impede and propel them forward in the trials to come.
The grammar / vocabularly is clear and free from errors. The author paints a clear picture of the scenery and action without the need to re-read sections or piece together events. You really feel like you are down on this isolated planet with the MC.
Top of my favorites list and I can not wait for more chapters!

for the duration of 3 chapters, I lived with the characters.
(the system seems interesting, but based on the summary, I wonder if it'll be of use later on)

woooo b oy this is already looking good so from what ive read so far it seems to be a mic of a 40k style human race and a tyranid sytle "swarmlings" mixed with a gamelit universe with different quirks than most seeing that this only has a few chapters so far i cant wait for more
