Young Desmond Whitechapel’s life has taken a sudden turn for the worse. As the sole survivor of a demon raid that took the lives of all in his hometown of Calcheth, including his parents, Desmond finds himself scared, haunted by the attack, and, worst of all, alone.

During the aftermath, he finds himself awakening to the Nexus Heart, the world system that will allow him to grow stronger than ever before. In his loneliness, he swears to himself to never be weak again, and to never be caught off guard like his town was.
