Description
Our world is gone. The new world is as bizarre as it is dangerous.
Alan lives the solitary life of a wasteland scavenger, but when he encounters a strange young girl from a faraway land who shares his psychic gifts, he is forced from a life of meagre survival into one of violence and endless peril. Dangerous, powerful, mad, people want the pair captured for purposes unknown, presumed nefarious.
Machine gun wielding maniacs and mutant sorcerers are only some of the threats at their heels, but what lies ahead? Is there any such thing as safety amongst the wastes, or can such a thing only be earned by sweat and blood?

- K A AndrusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The mysterious magic system, mutations, and other quirkiness of the world setting and the MC's situation are slowly being revealed through the situations of the plot rather than via info dump. Very good!
The prose is generally high-quality and is quite easy to follow. It is easy to become immersed in the story and not have the language usage or awkwardness of expression be a barrier. - hsteinvallRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR: Don't read this review, hurry up and read the story. It is great!
I have only read a few chapters, but the quality was so high and consistent that I feel confident in my review. I’ll edit my rating if the quality decrease over future chapters.
EDIT: Having finished all chapters written as of yet, this is my updated verdict. The quality is still high, the plot has developed nicely and I am very much engaged in the story. This truly is a hidden gem. The writing is a little less polished though in later chapters, but we're talking a few forgotten words or a few cases of un-deleated synonyms. The overall quality is still some of the very best RR has to offer.
It is sad but not unexpected that this hasn’t gathered more of a following. I stumbled upon this story from RRs “Recommended for you”. The author has released few but longish chapters with a lot of time between each release. That is pretty much the opposite of what is needed to make it to trending.
I tried my hand at writing some time ago. Compared to this, my work is absolute garbage, but I still had more followers. This is quality work that deserves recognition and more readers.
In setting and tone, it is very similar to Deadman by Seersucker. It has a distinct Fallout-vibe to it, without being a straight-out clone (which is almost the case with Deadman). It is written in first person singular, of the kind where the MC is clearly retelling a story to the reader. It is well written and the text flows cleanly. The author moves smoothly between scenes without being bogged down in undue descriptions of setting. Grammar is great, but I noticed that the author is fond of wordplay. I love it and do it myself, but it might not be to everyone’s liking. I like it, but it does decrease the flow of the text.
Example:
“Where did you come from?” My muffled whisper steamed the bottom of my lenses, and from the safe distance of two stories above I pinched myself.
Yes. It’s always hard to tell when one story ends and anothe
