The Living Fields

The Living Fields tells an alternate near-future of a group of young men who are suddenly recruited to join their country's imperial army. Despite being underage and inexperienced in piloting the main mechas called "Hodophilax", 17-year-old Ryōma Bäum along with his four comrades find themselves in the midst of chaos and confusion that the former slowly learns about the dark, scary truths about his country's twisted reality, and that the reason they're fighting in this war is made by lies and deception. Then, a veteran named Noa, who is recruited in the same battalion as him, becomes the only soldier whom he doubts that he can trust completely though not everything is seen as it seems. When the lines blurred between patriotism and nationalism, the only way Ryōma and his comrades can survive from this war is aligning themselves with Noa whose actions goes against the heroic and idealist way of winning the war.
