Shay, are you listening?

In the beginning, there was a canister of gasoline. There it sat, never used, collecting dust under a kitchen sink. The dust bunnies scampered over their “everlasting” home-- unaware the incoming blaze would swallow them, too. The canister's one purpose was to sustain flame. Its one purpose was to consume the lighthouse.

And it did, when no one expected it. How wonderful it was, watching the spiral staircase collapse. There was a strange beauty in watching the Fresnel lens shatter. Now, there are only ruins, overgrown with moss like silk and satin-- and someone is back for them. Someone is here to peer into the edges of our universe and jot down what looks back. Shay (Sherri) Lovelace is a former author, plagued by controversy and the weight of every relationship she’s shattered on the way here. Afflicted with writer’s block, she is here in search of The Next Big Thing. She hopes she’ll find it among the ruins. She will find something worse.

She will feel everything, and she will feel nothing. She is alone in a crowd.
