When you’ve lost all that you care about, how far would you go for revenge?

The D’ell is a place where the living and the dead can touch one last time. All Roge has ever known is life an an acolyte of the D’ell. Nathye is an ambitious Duke’s son who discovers too late that his father has taken a secret to his grave.

One fateful day, they each have the wrong conversation with the dead, setting them on a course of revenge that will alter their lives forever.

At the end of the path, only one will ask the last question.

This is a Jan 2025 submission to the Royal Road Community Magazine contest: Dead men tell the best tales.
