Description

Helena Rukh is the Last Evil,  the Black Queen, the Leader of the Dark Pact… and half a dozen other equally silly titles. Or at least Rukh thinks they’re silly, but then, she’s never thought of herself as the villain, despite all the things she did back in the War.

A war she lost. The treaty was signed. Her attempt to conquer all Reality aborted. Rukh’s retired now, to a hell-hole world called Sansara, a place where it rains ash and chaos-rents mar the sky, though the liquor is surprisingly good. But an old enemy is on her way to end that retirement, to drag Rukh back into everything she left behind.

Trouble is brewing and the self-styled good guys are at a loss.

Set a thief to catch a thief and all that....

Easily one of the best stories I have read on this site, and I have been on here for years. This is written very professionally, avoiding most of the tropes and pitfalls that many beginning writers fall into. There are no noticeable breaks in the story to explain things, it flows seamlessly. Characters are introduced with just the right amount of detail to feel intrigued by them as well as sympathizing with the main character in her feelings towards them with only a few lines without getting overly complicated. The magic system is entirely unique, and defined as the story progresses, with set limits on the capabilities of each power, very reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson’s writing. I highly recommend anyone/everyone to give this a read.

I have to say this one has real promise. It's a bit Chronicles of Amber meets Kill Bill. The setting has lots of room to develop, terminology is explained with a minimum of fuss, and the plot has all the appearances of having a coherent ending rather than turning into an endless patreon-milking web opera.
That said, the character development is rather bare. The main character is aggressively Lawful Evil. The other characters are very Kill Bill: defined by how they wronged or were wronged by the main character, and likely to be slaughtered around the same point thier motives are explored.
All in all, I would recommend giving this one a read.
