Description
Everyone born in the world has a Gift—a boon that was granted by gods up above. 'The gift comes for free,' is what everyone thought. They showered the gods with their prayers and love. But everything offered comes bearing a cost, and nobody knew just how much they had lost.
The poisonous Gifts slowly tightened their noose. They mangled our souls, sending chunks flying loose. The gods had their feast—most delectable meal. A pittance they Gave in return for this deal. The fishers above dangled bait with great glee. The butchers ensured that their prey couldn't flee. Our world was consumed by this one-sided flow. Justwhatdid we pray to, doesanyoneknow?
Companions were forged from a motley assortment of strangers who'd learned of this terrible lore. Their marvellous world made of magic and whimsy—with balance and equal exchange at its core—was dying a slow, irreversible death at the hands of the creatures who dwelled among stars. Though lacking in power, they kept on their mission to Balance the world and to heal all its scars. Through sacrifice, hardship, impossible odds… compassionate hearts pit their wills against gods. The party stepped into the ravenous maws to reclaim back their world and redress human flaws.

- FrogAndWormRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the hot swaps following the MC's train of thoughts so far, really creative and fun to follow so far. The first chapter got my blood pumping, i started to sweat during the chase and found myself holding my breath. I'm really excited to see the first chapter MC interact with other actual people haha
- RADRRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We’re getting into rising stars with this one 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
but seriously the prose is really good (not that I’m an AP lit teach or anything) and the story telling is top tier. Looking forward to reading the rest of the authors work
ReVieWs MuST bE fIFTY WOrDs LOnG my as - wispykeyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reading this story, one can tell that the author has a grand vision of how everything will eventually come together - and the payoff will be glorious.
I want to learn everything about this story's world. The world is immersive, and details about the lore are slipped in at a trickling pace. The reader quickly gets the sense that there is something more at play. Each chapter becomes an opportunity to gain a handful of important insights into the world and its characters, even when the content is seemingly innocuous at times.
The reading experience is high quality and flows smoothly. World-building and character writing/development are clearly the author's strengths, which holds much promise for a slow-burn story like this. Each interaction between characters makes perfect sense. It is especially delightful to read the dialogue, which always precisely fits each personality. Grammar is never an issue.
Even though it is still early on in the story, I inexplicably trust that many of the hints and open-ended questions about the lore will be intricately weaved together and answered in due time. The author has demonstrated that the story will not be a perpetual tease, just a very slow one.
I will return to edit this review in the future.
