Description
New chapter everyMonday.
Artyom, once summoned to fight in a bloody war for petty nobles, now devotes himself to stopping that from happening to anyone else. He’s a member of the Isekai Police, an organization dedicated to saving anyone whose isekai dream turns into a nightmare. Treated as expendable and thrown into a meat grinder? He and the rest of his team will be there to save you.
But years of action has him burned out, and he’s forced on a vacation he doesn’t want to take. There he meets friendly faces, including a group of new adventurers he decides to mentor who begin to thaw his cold exterior. But when the so-called paradise goes to hell, and there’s a kid from Earth caught up in the mix, it’s back to business for Artyom.
He’ll show the so-called Dark Lord and his forces what it means to mess with the Isekai Police.

- BiovoreBarrageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve read plenty of stories with similar plot devices to this story, multiverisal departments, using stuff from outside of a system, etc. What this story surprised me with however is using these base tropes to examine a different kind of system/world in a light that I haven’t really seen before. I’d go into a bit further depth but the pay off of figuring out what exactly is going on, connecting all the little dots that seemed like lazy/uninspired writing to truths we learn later was a nice dopamine rush. In terms of writing the story is pretty good with the MC being a tad 1 dimensional, but for a good reason which plays into the story quite well. I know the mystery of the story is not the main focus of this novel, and the main focus is still quite good, but the moment where it clicked was fantastic.
- DrewAJRRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just started reading this upon seeing a shout out from "The Walrus King" and it's been a very good read so far, the reverse isekai is interesting and I'm looking forward to more chapters :) I don't know when 50 words is, thank you Mr. Author for the cool story!
- Lurker LuuuurkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Isekai police as they should be. With heart. Though the MC does seem to randomly pick up the idiot ball. That might just be because he's being affected by some interesting mechanics that this story only has possible hints of so far. Could be reading into it too much. But if not, it would be a very unique blend. Fingers crossed ! Oh. Right. Worth the read ! Check it out !
- Ryan StennetRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0That's right, Hot Fuzz. I'll stand by it. Supercop gets forced into an idyllic locale with a hidden darkness? It works for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and it works for Artyom here.
Style
The writing style is smooth and engaging. The descriptions and action sequences have just the right balance of detail to pull you into the scene without bogging things down. The magic descriptions of magic are straightforward and understandable. Some sentences are a bit dense, which can slow things down during action-heavy moments. It’s not a dealbreaker, but trimming here and there might sharpen the pacing even more. Overall, though, it works great, and the introspective moments really hit.
Story
The concept is fun and interesting. There's a lot of built in backstory right out the gate that makes the world feel lived in and that we're entering the MC's story mid-stream. That said, there's not a ton of actual plot to comment on yet. At least in this section. Because the plot so far is: Artyom is forced on paid vacation, but there's strange happenings in fairy-tale land! And it's only in the most recent chapters has the plot really advanced. THAT BEING SAID: For all that the first several chapters are effectively slice-of-life, it WORKS. And it works because of who the main character is and the circumstances we find him in as of Chapter 1. It's all well put together and I'm a big fan.
Grammar
The grammar is solid. Dialogue is clean and easy to follow, and punctuation is on point. As I said above, some sentences could stand to be split up or streamlined—especially in action sequences—just to keep the momentum going. But there’s nothing egregious here, and everything reads well.
Characters
This is the real standout here. I feel for Art, I really do. But his co-workers are also right! The man needs to unwind. And for just a little bit we see him loosening up, mentoring some young adventurers and learning to see people as more than just Victims and Perpetrators. Which is why it's hard to - Stepan ChizhovRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be the overpowered, world-hopping savior of the multiverse but also obviously burned out and also not ready to acknowledge that, The Isekai Police is for you. Artyom is a seasoned pro who’s been saving kids from the most grimdark of worlds, but now he’s been “rewarded” with a “vacation” to a Fairytale World.
Well, all of us readers will wait for this vacation to go awry, but I'm currently at the 10th chapter, so I'll still have to get there.
What I love most about this story (aside from intense but helpful Artyom) is the nice twist on the usual Isekai tropes. Artyom’s entire existence has been spent jumping between worlds where everything is dark and violent, and now he has to adapt to a world where people, gasp, aren’t monsters. They are a bit slow, that's true. But it isn't like they are all dark lords just because of that.
And then, this whole idea that some concepts that are basic for us, people benefiting from good education systems, could not be obvious to people who use skills for every single task. I like that. I want more exploration of that! I mean, where’s the “Pythagorean theorem” button when you need it, right? It’s a fun, logical concept that makes you think: what if our world didn’t have schools and systems that taught us the basics? What if something as fundamental as math was a learned skill or a magic ability you had to earn in a fantasy world? It’s the kind of quirky, real-world exploration I didn’t know I needed.
The world-building is spot on, with just the right mix of rich detail and pacing. The Fairytale World is definitely hiding something darker beneath its sugary surface, and Artyom’s role as an unlikely guide to this chaotic blend of innocence and danger makes for a ride that’s part humor, part action, and that wait, what just happened?!
I can't wait to read more chapters! - Willingly_IgnantRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Can't remember who recommended it author wise, but a good read. Starts a bit slow, but by the time things get rolling, they start getting real interesting. Before that, angry man on a forced vacation in the humble jolly world of easy difficulty. Then oh shit we have an objective, an now a major mystery brewing. Well, kinda major at the moment, well see where this goes but it looks like it's gonna ramp up an I'm expecting some sadistic backstabbing in the future
- RobotarmyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5We'll written and fun combination of old school police dramas - "top cop goes on vacation and finds more than he bargained for!"
The setting is very creative and in appreciate the setting of fairytale gone bad in combination with the best cop trope.
I find the writing really clear and easy to follow. While the character is a little flat it's well paced and interesting. - WyntrrRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I want to lead by saying YES, I do recommend this book. I’m going to have a few criticisms, but for me they aren’t dealbreakers. I enjoyed the read.
Anyways! I bookmarked this a while back so I could binge read once it hit 500 pages or so. Back then, it’d been labeled as an OP MC story. It isn’t labelled that way anymore, so no complaints on that front really. The guy’s strong, but the enemies are even stronger. This is where I got the review title from.
That said, it’s a fun read. It isn’t a masterpiece, vol1 felt a little unpolished (more specifically, if I had to read the words ‘the man from Earth’ again I might have screamed), but I wasn’t really looking for a masterpiece. I liked the premise and the MC was pretty memorable.
The world doesn’t feel small, and most of the important characters have some depth. I didn’t at any point feel like it dragged on or like I should drop it.
Cheers, thank you for the read, author. - QwandriRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So, I liked it, but the other characters are pretty naive to the point of irritation, where the MC has to baby multiple adults because they rely too much on skills. It's interesting to see, but it does get grating how childish some characters act. Also, the MC not having a status is interesting. I do think MC's PTSD should be addressed more, though it already is somewhat there, it just seems not to affect him too much, which was odd. The magic system is unique, but the world is kind of bland so far. It's an interesting take on isekai, and worth the read I think.
- TurboZombie42Royal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is interesting so far through book 1. The length of the first book feels a little short, more like the first third or so of a novel, but I understand why it’s a reset/stopping point. The writing is above the level of a young adult novel, but not by much. I get the impression that the author will take criticism well and continue to improve. I look forward to reading more.
