Description
Enshrined in the annals of history, the rule of the empress was absolute. Her power struck fear into the heart of mortal men. It was said that even death itself would bend to her whim. With a single wave of her hand, she could raise the dead to fight at her command. The pale, glowing, green eyes of her shambling undead struck fear into even the most hardened soldiers. For centuries, the empress ruled absolute. Until one day, a great hero rose up to stand against her.
Decades later, the empress is reborn into the body of a small child. Presented with the opportunity to start anew once again, will she once again walk the road of revenge and power, or will her new family show her a better path? Will any of them survive long enough to find out? Only time can tell.

- kNevikRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0MC (Wren/Aurielle) is intriguing with how her 2 personalities blend and interact (other reviewers have menioned some inconsistency in the way she behaves but I think this is intendend given how she behaves when Wren or Aurielle is incapasitated). Other characters are interesting even though obviously less developed.
World building is great using both current events and Aurielles memories of long past to creating something well developed without it feeling like information dumps. - JoniSueRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like what I have read so far and look forward to reading more as the story unfolds.
It has the setup of a great story. It has a good balance of adventure, suspense, intrigue, and action.
It’s well written so far and a pretty fun read.
I strongly recommend giving it a read! - KaibaHoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read many reincarnation stories, some I remember, other I forget or have a vague memory reading it. There's detail in everything part as well as love put into the story. I still remember the glowing greens eyes. I got sucked into the story really quickly, before I realized it I was already on chapter 8 and starting chapter 9.
Character - For a anti-hero she's different. Not a character that broods on roof tops like some or just bland like others. The dialogue flows and you get a sense of connection between character.
Story - I've read and watch many reincarnation stories. Many of them have simple plots like "slay the demon king", "trying to fit in", "you will destory the world", etc. The premise of this is one I don't see very often in reicarnation stories, well at least for lead characters.
Style - The style rides along like a wave, though there are slight interuption. I was mainly suprised by the other voice til I realized it was a voice in her head. Other than that, no interuptions and easy to follow along.
Grammar - I didn't see any thing wrong with any grammar. Even if there was any, it was already fixed or doesn't draw attention to itself - B.C. FaJohnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has a strong start, and it grips the reader early on. I would say that our MC is strong willed and interesting, with her intriguing mannerisms and habits. I find myself wanting to understand her intent and motives more thoroughly. Great job here.
The world building is fantastic, and I say this as somebody who loves lore. Give me more!
Overall, I will keep on reading and enjoying this adventure :) - JetFishRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Edit: After reading to the present releases I corrected my score upwards from 4 to 4.5, changed the title, compressed some paragraphs, deleted some spoilers and added some stuff.
The early chapters are very fast paced and cause a lot of too convient plot and character decisions. Details get glanced over in the process and that's why the early events felt really 'staged' and rushed to me.
This rushed pace however soon gets corrected and more measured around the Aktaio (Free City) Arc. While some plot development and characters still feel staged, they get a lot more depth added to them.
Around chapter 50 or so some too convient character decision happening in the early chapters get an explanation.
I don't know if this was always the intention of the author but it was done well and made me able to ignore the earlier inconsistencies somewhat.
The writing continues to pick up in quality as the story goes on with one negative point always being at the back of my thoughts, which is the protagonist.
At no point in the story could I feel a 400 year old being residing in Wren and making desicions. I struggled to see anything but a naive girl most of the time, even when only Aurielle was 'in control'. Sure she has knowlegde worth hundreds of years but I failed to really see any wisdom applied into the plot reality.
Now we don't know Aurielle's original character. Maybe she was a naive 400 year old undead tyrant. It is not however how I picture a more or less immortal entity.
She struggled to even barely fullfill the functions she handled in the past. Like being a spy or diplomat.
I do not know if she was a diplomat but she had to have a lot of interactions with the other divisions with her being one of the leaders of the 13th.
And thats why stomping the senator son's foot, not wanting to wear frilled dresses or not wanting to set foot into a brothel to gather information felt like something I couldn't see the protagonist(s) doing.
The protagonist has a frustratingly low/incons - DlorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a review as of chapter 12.
Decently entertaining story that has the capability to be a great story. So far as of chapter 12 it has been world building and an introduction to our main character. I would recommend giving this story a read through and following it, for if the author finishes writing the story in the world he has begun to build it will be an epic fantasy. With the current rate of character development and growth and world building from the chapters I have read so far, it will take at least 100 more chapters to finish this story if not more. This is the one worry I have, for the author has started a grand fantasy book and my hope is that they will continue it. 4.5 stars out of 5 - TeraSvRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I can't really say much about style and grammar. Nether exceptional nor bad. Simply good enough to not notice anything.
The storry is more focused than many others on here. There is a clear threat and goal. We learn of it very early. It is just hard and complicated to achive.
There are some convenieces early, but most things start to make sense later on.
The world is interesting and while somewhat of an archetypical universe the detail are interesting and well done.
I don't think the premise does justice to the storry.
Characters are good. Most of them act like humans with their own interests and believes. The MC does not really give the vibe of an 400 years old but old people can be impressively dumb. Also most of the time she is a 400 years old fused with a child and when she is a child she actually acts like one.
I like the family, they actually think about the implications of what it means ( for them ) that an acient tyrant has fused with their daughter.
Yet once they are sure their daughter is still part of the MC these questions get very simple.
In adition her relationship with her brother is especially interesting. - ReaderGuyRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This story has a lot of potential and i wanted to like it, but a lot of the plot developments felt contrived. The same story with a little mere natural transitions would be great. I read to chapter 24 and feel that it jumped the shark for me with that arc. With a little more work, i think this could be a 5 star story.
- GspRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Again, good potential, commitment, peace... But the author doesn't seem to understand what he wants to write. All characters have character and consistency issues, especially the main character. It feels like the author is just justifying the main character by saying that he has a second soul. He acts like a child all the time. You could say she's dominated by Ren, but how? There are centuries of experience and memory there. It's all just nonsense. Oh, it's a pity, another book that could be amazing, but it's just a passing one.
- DefinitelyNotAReptileRoyal Road★★★ 2.5This story is an exercise in how to waste a good idea. The concept behind the main character and the world is brillant, but the execution is so disappointing... Inconsistencies abound in the most glaring ways, for example, the main character's ability to fight is pretty much always dictated by rolling dice it seems, and her cognitive abilities go randomly from a child to a cunning mastermind. It really feels like the author uses the excuse of the main character having two personalities to explain how the mc can either lose or win any situation without any regards to keeping it believable. But that's not the only thing. Not even the supporting cast manages to escape blatant railroading as even they act super weirdly at times, here's a minor spoiler with an example:
The mc's mother is described as very protective of her children, especially the mc as she has been sick all her life. Then they are captured, the mc is tortured by someone for days, and then when they are freed and forced to work with the guy who held her entire family in chains to the point of them bleeding from their wrists, the mother is like, maybe lightly mad at the guy and even tells the mc to be polite to him when she gets mad at him, all for the sake of cooperation... any mother i know would be seething with rage...
And you better like that supporting cast, as they are the real protagonists of this story, like it or not. In my opinion there is little to like about them, they are all some cliché or another and not overly likeable. The main character seems to only get more useless as time goes on while the supporting cast get stronger and stronger as they keep fighting the mc's battles. And somehow even with that they dont manage to have any decisive victory ever...
Overall a very frustrating story which gets even more frustrating when you think about what it could have been if it had been executed differently...
