Matthias "Macabre" Söderberg is an IES - an Intelligence Extraction Specialist. He's also nobody to the Churches of New Gothernburg except an expensive, pretty-labeled torturer with half a conscience. And plenty of nobodies play casualty when the Churches go to war.

Except a man like Matthias--who makes a profession out of collecting secrets inside blood-spitting final words--a man like that knows things, more than the betrayals paid for, more than hidden truths babbled between screams, or whispered in sleep by a lover's heart.

There is no sentiment in a job well-done, until one allows themselves to enjoy it.
