Description
Thevaris, a revered elf priest known for his wisdom and grace, harbors dark secrets from his past. Though he stands as a symbol of purity, his hands are stained with betrayal—a treachery long hidden behind a veil of righteousness. When an unexpected curse falls upon him, cast by the one he wronged many years ago, his pristine image begins to unravel. The curse not only threatens his life but forces him to confront his past sins and the lies he’s told.
As his body and soul deteriorate under the weight of the curse, Thevaris finds himself drawn to Waldric, a mysterious dragonoid warrior who ignites in him something long forgotten: love. But this love comes with dangerous consequences. In a desperate attempt to break the curse, Thevaris drinks Waldric’s blood, transforming him into a "mudblood," a cursed half-being, forever torn between his elven purity and the beastly strength of dragons.
Caught in a web of deceit, forbidden romance, and his crumbling identity, Thevaris must now navigate a world where his secrets are no longer safe. As enemies close in and the truth threatens to destroy everything he holds dear, Thevaris and Waldric must fight not only for their love but for their very survival.
In a world where deception and truth blur, The Holy Masquerade reveals the ultimate question: can love endure when the heart itself is masked in lies?

- DemureMissDreyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Although this genre of story typically isn't my cup of tea (considering it is queer fiction, I believe), you've done a wonderful job in capturing my interest in the first chapter. The worldbuilding caught my eye very quickly, calling the main character "your radiance" was a unique title I've never heard in fiction before and I thought it was cool! And the names? Hello? Stunning! Thevaris is such a pretty name!!
I like that it starts and ends on a hook, and the main character himself is intriguing. The way he is able to puzzle things out and arrive at the answer shows his intelligence. And how he goes to help the girl despite it possibly being a trap, and also willing to sin to protect other people, shows his compassion and selflessness - something few characters have these days! I really love how you portrayed his personality so well and in such a short time span.
(Also Thevaris reading...uh....interesting content...in the beginning of the story made me crack up).
Despite queer fiction not being something I read, or plan to read, I heavily applaud your style and your approach to introducing the world and the characters. I think your plot so far sounds really good and has a lot of potential if executed correctly (which I am sure you will!). You clearly have a lot of talent, your prose is good, and I hope you manage to find a good reader-base on royalroad! :)
PS: Some typos I noticed that you might want to fix ;)
“This must be the castor…” the crowd collectively agreed.
Everywhere else, you call them a "caster" with an "er" instead of an "or".
I didn’t avert my gaze from the little girl.
Since we're speaking in present tense, I would just switch this to "don't" instead of "didn't".
