The hero's journey, and my tag along adventure

The main character reincarnates on an alien planet after death. This is a shonen like series where the standard shonen protagonist is not the main character but someone who the main character meets and helps along. surrounded by people with special talents and back stories, will the main character keep up and join in the spot light, or fall behind and support in the background?

There is no sci fi yet and plans for it are far in the future of the story line.
