The Heist at Cordia Aquarium
Community Rating
Description
In a super powered society, many different types of people exist. Heroes. Villains. Sidekicks. Henchmen.
World changing events are the norm for those people. They scheme, they fight, they make up, and they do it all over again.
What about the types of people that are just trying to get by?
A disillusioned priest that can smell sin struggles to balance ethics and paying the bills.
An aspiring aquarist that just needs to finish out her aquarium mentorship, then she can fulfill all the expectations she never wanted.
A movie enthusiast that turns to crime to support his dying mother-in-law.
A mechanic that relapses on an addiction to her power to escape from herself.
What happens when they meet each other during the heist of a... Definitely not a century. Maybe the heist of a day?
Releases every Monday!

- SubvertingTheWorldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story feels like a proper book, it's right and economical with its words. Every chapter has a purpose, it's not the long winded meanderings so typical of webserials. It's well put together, the grammar is essentially perfects, and while the characters and their struggles and personal foibles can become almost exhausting that's because they are so fully and painfully human. The multiple povs may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I pwrersonally love seeing and picking apart the tangled mess that is the result of the catastrophic crashing of these characters stories and lives colliding with eachother.
- TeamDmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have not noticed any issues with style, story, grammar, or characters.
I found this story from the on-site ads, and went in blind.
I would say it has a vibe like "Worm", but this story deserves to be considered on its own instead of just being compared to an existing story. There are multiple perspectives being explored, with characters acting according to their own desires and beliefs. I enjoy how they act realistically, not just making decisions just to fit the planned story despite the characters. Also like Worm are the Intermission chapters which give perspective of characters besides the main cast, although there's only been like one so I can't say if this is entirely true.
I'm current as of now (ch19) and am excited to see where this goes next.
Use of powers has been straightforward. It is NOT litrpg with status screens, and I think this way is better for the superhero setting.
If nothing else, there has been very little interaction despite the quality of the story so far. Read now and you'll get to have your comments actually be seen rather than be drowned in the sea of noise that follows other stories. (Don't just comment "first", at least try to contribute :/. ) - vtech1855Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Review update: the author responded to my initial review and updated the story's description. The new description very much makes me want to read more.
The author has done a great job of describing settings, the dialogue feels natural, and there aren't glaring typos. Also, the characters feel like real people and not tropes or caricatures.
I did like what I read, so please give it a shot!
I will update with an advanced review once I read more. - Daniel ZellmerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The writing is ok decent enough and the problems with super hero insurance are kinda interesting. The psychological thriller part really starts to dig in all of these people with brains that just won't let them be happy. Hopefully Thea finds the money she needs to survive.
and bamboo is an interesting teleporting cat. - SolkRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story starts well. The set up characterisation is good, by the end of the second chapter a clear problem is established. The sentences flow and the voice of the main character is coming through. I think the author has achieved the ambience of down on the luck mundane in a supernatural world.
