Description
'I advance.'
That was the fundamental truth that Xiao Lee's cultivation was built upon. Never stopping and always cultivating was what made him the youngest Great Lord in history.
Yet it was not without sacrifice.
Friends who will not advance further have to be left behind. The strong rule, after all.
And then he ascended.
In a heaven that is beyond his wildest imagination; with wonderful technology and an impossible civilisation, maybe, in this new world where strength isn't everything, perhaps he can finally forge lasting friendships.
A tale of friendship, identity, and a young man who is determined to become an unparalleledinfluencercultivator.
What to expect:
MC is at the peak of his world when the story starts but is at the bottom of the new world.
Ambitious and driven MC who doesn't want to leave his friends behind again.
Character growth both for the MC and the side characters.
Vast world with ridiculous power scaling.
No harem or romance.
Progression and cultivation!

- earlgrayerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall -- interesting ideas I haven't seen before, thoughtful attention to characters, a fitting narrative style, and a few easily ignored typos.
Most stories start at the beginning, but I like how this one starts "at the end" (without spoiling the details) and proceeds towards a new beginning. At this point in the story (chapter 13), there are a number of disparate elements the author is tickling us with, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they pull them all together.
Best element overall is the creative ideas and themes woven into the story. I particularly like the tension between personal power and state power; convenience vs control; justice vs bureaucracy. I really didn't expect the bureaucratic elements of the world building to be so satisfying... but for some reason they are!
Lots of care is put into the motivations of the MC and other main characters, although some of the characters have similar names and there is a rapidly expanding cast.
The narrative style is... self-aware? wry? but without becoming self-conscious, and works with the themes and POV of the main character.
The only nitpick are occasional typos (most commonly with punctuation or repeated words), but nothing too jarring or diminishing to the story itself. - EuphonicsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows a mature protagonist who already has years of experience in his cultivation which is excellent.
The thing I hate about cultivation stories is how much fluff is added when talking about techniques and cycling. In this story, our MC has already mastered all of that. Allowing us to get straight into the action without much build-up.
I’m looking forward to reading further, keep it up! - FlokistarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0in stories usually the MC start at the bottom of strength than he would work his way up, but not in this one, well, kinda of. He was already the strongest in his world, but wasn't satisfied with that. There were other worlds with much stronger cultivator. So, despite his emotional struggle that forced him to choose between staying with his friends or advance to higher cultivation hight and leaving them behind, he chose the later. He wanted to advance.
Grammar: didn't spot any mistakes that would break immersion. The author clearly spend his time to edit his chapters as much as possible, and if you spotted a mistake, the author would quickly fixed once notified.
Style: the story is written in the third person pov which is my favorite. The author has a way with words that managed to paint vivid images about the characters emotions and surroundings. I liked the world building and the pace that the story is going by.
Characters: what I really liked about the story was the fact that the author didn't just focus on the MC, but he also fleshed out every character. Giving them a personality and voice of their own.
Overall, great start for cultivation story that I predict would soon reach rising stars. - FromTheDeepRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was a bit put off with the characterisation of Lee just abandoning his friends in the first chapter. It feels kinda forced because the MC needs that specific backstory. After that though it gets into the meat of what the author wants to explore, and there is some good meat to have. Sci-fi meets cultivator, with the sense of western superiority looking down on eastern mysticism as the background themes. Interesting to see where it goes from here
- PunpopeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is just such an interesting and unique take on the cultivation genre. I am truly grateful that the author decided to share their vision with the world. The world building is pretty great and the characters and their interactions are very distinctive especially compared to other cultivation novels.
- SKNit3Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I already love this story. It goes beyond what normal cultivation does. I want to point out that I will be as fair and respectful as possible when giving this review. And everything here is my honest opinion.
Style: The pacing felt a bit slow at the beginning, to be honest. Despite that, there are absolutely no other flaws. It had great one liners, amazing dialogues, strong verbs and excellent prose. There is a lot of excitement in the writing compared to other stories. Breathtaking!
Story: The premise is really interesting. It also develops even more as the chapter progresses. The beginning - chapter 1 was the best part. It had a strong narrative hook. While other cultivations has them going from 'weak-to-strong', Xiao Lee goes from 'strong to stronger' in a new world. The culture and technology that was also integrated... Great story.
Grammar: I found absolutely no problem with the grammar. It was clear and easy to understand.
Character: Xiao Lee is my no 1 favorite character with Lisa is my second. Each character was fleshed out and the author did not just focus on the MC. Every character had a unique voice and personality. The characterization shines brightly.
Overall: The Heavens is a pretty interesting and unique read and I will highly recommend it if you are a fan of Xianxia and progressions. - Scott ReignRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far this book has been a great read and I loved the way the author intentionally or not captured the culture shock someone would experience immigrating to a foreign country. All of this wrapped up in a cultivation context.
The author has a great way of also gradually giving us knowledge of the setting in a way which makes the story feel very natural to read.
Definitely highly recommend this novel! - VivianARoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a review swap.
As per writing this review, I haven't read much Xianxia novels, which makes most of the unexplained Xianxia lingoes and concepts here go past my head like a bullet as I read past them (my bad). Despite that, I can at least understand that Xiao Lee needs to adapt to new environments each time to keep ascending, which in turn gives breathing room for wacky shenanigans and or deep-thinking stuff as the story goes. And so far I’ve read, the wacky shenanigans were interesting.
This story has potential. You should try it. - Wo7fRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This brilliant story has a slow start but it’s xianxia feel is right up there.
The MC Xiao Lee is at the top of the pile in his home world Xenus and has made the decision to ascend to the higher realms where adventure and advancement awaits.
The higher realm is not what he was expecting but in true MC style, using everything Lee has learned in his very short life, grits his teeth so that he can advance higher then ever.
a great read (so far), the story is well mapped out with the world building and characters as a standout. Grammar and structure are lacking but it reads well. - ClockworkRoseRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is purportedly about a somewhat western xainxia world that is more humanitarian than most. So far it mostly seems to have focused on how much it fails to be that, and the people it has failed to help or treat humanely.
Which isn't to say its a bad story outside of that. Interesting world and not a young master in sight!
But I thought I had signed up for something a little less depressing.
