I rarely ever bother to review anything, but I wanted to give this 5 stars for having a believable world, realistic characters, and a plot that actually makes sense.  A satisfying conclusion to the first book was a nice bonus!  Hopefully this is followed up with sequels as I'm excited to see what the outside world holds.

I love the fact that it is a single person adventure.  It reminds me a lot of a "Choose your own adventure" type style.  That being said, the author weaves an interesting story and background for the MC to explore.  Never been a huge fan of higher powers fighting for the MC, but the author doesn't over do it.  Well done and highly recommended.

The literal only problem I have with this story is the author’s wacky release schedule. One can only assume that he sits on a hefty backlog, only releasing it when he has an entire book’s worth ready and in the final stage of editing. When he does release, it’ll brighten your month. Well-paced action that never drags on, in a world that always keeps you interested.
    It’s light, it’s fun, and it’s good.
The author isn’t trying to reinvent the genre he’s writing in, which you could say is unambitious, but… I mean, he doesn’t really need to, does he? The story doesn’t take many chances, but it also doesn’t make any mistakes, and it’s never boring.
I’ve been reading books like these for a while now, and if I didn’t know any better, I’d say that this one was foundational for the entire genre. It’s junk food reading, and I say that as someone who loves junk food. It’s… okay, that last comment might come across as a little back-handed, but I really do mean it in the best way possible. I consider all litrpgs to be junk food reading—and that’s how we like it.
I really really like this story.

As a kid I loved a telly program on ITV (UK) called Knightmare. It was kids guiding another blindfolded kid through a dungeon crawl. It was as awesome as the budget was low! Anyway, Grand Game gives me a huge nostalgia boner, with shades of the fighting fantasy books to boot.
Look, I paid actual money for books one and two and have zero regrets.

Pretty good so far in my opinion. This story is a slow-burn as all the other reviews are saying but I find the chapters relatively short and concise and easy to get through. I personally like the direction this story is going and if your looking for a slow-burn, lit-rpg with a solo intelligent MC with many more chapters to come, this is the story for you. Also if your looking at other reviews saying there's a lot of unnecessary detail and system messages I think the author has taken most of them out or edited those chapters to have less, as I dont see an abundance of them. If you read this story and think there's to many system messages....whatever, I just think it doesn't at least compared to other lit-rpg's I've read .

Story started interesting enough to get me going even without a particularly insane hook to get my (perhaps slightly jaded) attention. I only caught a couple of times where a word was out of order or repeated, the quality and grammer and whatnot is good, otherwise I would not bother leaving a review.
Really liking it so far even though my attention almost started to wander, before it was quickly pulled in even deeper. For the first time writing, this is most excellent and I expect good things to come... No pressure... Keep up the good work!

Great litrpg story, solid character build up, with a good long term plot that makes you want to keep reading. Looking forward to book 2 and how the Grand Game can change Michael and his perspective about light, shadow and the dark. Would recommend this to any litrpg reader that lovet to learn a new system.

This is probably one of my favorite stories on royal atm.
Michael is a well balanced character and while not perfect he makes well calculated descions.
The plot and sub plot are both very interesting and are both hidden from the reader but make for a great read.
Plus if you love systems this is a story for you. To often you get baited by novels with systems then they become irrelevant. So great job building a pretty unique system from other novels!

This story has me hooked. I am really enjoying it so far. The game elements that have only been hinted at so far, are intriguing and suggest deep game elements that I am very excited to learn more about. Combat scenes are done very well, and everything character wise so far makes sense. Can't wait to read more.

This is a fantastic story. It is enjoyable, with the MC progressing and pushing the story forward while still not having the full picture. Others are using him to do their bidding, and it's not always clear how straight they're being with him. In short, people besides the MC actually act intelligently, but he's still able to piece things together.
As I update this review, it looks like the plot is going to coalesce into a very satisfying conclusion. The author has definitely planned all of this in advance.
