- AseloRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: Amazing novel just amazing. I read from the beginning to Volume 2 Chapter 4 Sightseeing (5) in one session and ended up sleeping at 5:30 am. 5/5
Style: I love your writing style and it shines through here as well. 5/5
Story: Is comedic yet there is a plot in there as well if you pay attention. It has moving moments, d*mn you onion ninjas. Some of the best comedy I have ever had the pleasure to read. 5/5
Grammar: I didn't really notice anything? 5/5
Character: Unique personalities! There are no jade skinned beauties or trashy jp protagonists in this novel although the second volume seems to be cultivator based so I suppose that could change. I believe in you though Virlyce! I love the main character's scatterbrained and food-obsessed personality. She has here own system of values and sticks to them. Those were definitely rare spirit beasts. Uh huh sure they were.... 6/5
Best Quote So Far: Phoenixes are not erect peacocks! - BullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a story about how a chipmunk becomes stronger. Or... it might be about how much pressure a sword can take before it caves in. Who could really say?
The style is fine enough, and the grammar is nothing to complain about. The plot? Who cares about that. There might be some issues of power-creep later on, but the author fixed that problem well enough.
Characters are diverse. From what can be read, there has clearly been put thought into making them as outstanding as possible. While the names might not be remembered, the personalities are ingrained in the mind forever. Especially the MC's. Very well made.
Overall, the story is yet another masterpiece. - CelinorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good humor is really difficult. An overwhelming majority of the comedies on RRl fall flat. It may also be that I'm picky about this genre ?
Anyway, The Godking's Legacy is lighthearted and fun, a character-driven wandering story that buoys the mood of its readers and uses classical tropes like OP protagonist and eastern-type journey to power, but shows its absurdity and laughs about it. And we laugh with.
The step-up from Demon's Journey, by the same author, is examplary. Narrowing the focus on the comedy avoids the trap of many stories which, by wanting to broach various themes, never attain their hinted at potential and beget deception. Not this time !
A great read for everybody who appreciates a good comedy, and a must read for those who for who find other lacking on RRl. - FatangryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I picked this story up and have been reading it off and on over the last couple of weeks, it has never dragged or been anything but a nice diversion to spend an hour or so with. I wouldn't rate it as an absolutle must read page turner but it is highly enjoyable and well worth your time.
You have to read it like a sit-com, there's no depth here, no far reaching or underlying 'big themes' it's in your face bluntly comedic fun with fairly shallow fairly one dimensional characters... and that is perfectly fine. Having deep well rounded characters would get in the way of enjoying the absurdity, so grab your beverage of choice and put aside a couple of hours here and there to have a laugh at some insane situations.
Definitely recommended. - MorvanaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There is only one review for this amazing story ?
One sentence to describe it: a realy fun comedy with amazing characters.
The only downside: sometimes the story is a bit slow (ex: the training with Durendal seems loooong to me.), and sometimes it's too fast...
If you like the other stories from Virlyce you will probably love this one too. - Salman ButtRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not a fan of SJW stuff but saying that this series gives it a good shake with humor and slapstick comedy into something you can read without taking a moral stand for one side or the other.
The characters are trying to be true to there motivations despite what the author throws them into is a good feel. - Grey FlowerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A fairly entartaining adventure/comedy book with overpowered MC. However, I don't think I've ever read a book with MC more disgusting than in here. She's dumb, dismissive about everything that isn't her and hers, falsely self-righteous, self-delusional, greedy and bossy. I guess author emulated thought process and character development of a simpleton quite well? I'm not sure why anyone would want that as a main character however.
- JahyayaRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I would have rather read about the sword's old owner. It feels like I am reading every chapter twice from different view points because they don't vary in content that much.
- EverShadowRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I hate but also enjoy this story at the same time. On one hand, it's fun at times and there are some characters that I like, as well as some plotlines that have true potential. On the other hand, the main character is horrible, and while sometimes it can be funny it usually leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth and feelling dirty. I wish the author gave her at least some redeeming qualities, but unfortunately she is a liar, bandit, murderer, and sadist. However, I can live with that. What really bugs me is her continued denial that she is a good person. It's infuriating and I now hate the main character, which makes it hard to like the story. The only reason the character score isn't half a star is because I like some of the other characters, but again they are overshadowed by Lucia. It isn't fun to read about the adventures of a monumental idiot for several hundred pages. It may be a fun joke at the beginning, but there has been no character growth and it's tiresome.
Short version: Has some great potential at times, but it's totally destroyed by the main character's continued insistence that she is a good person despite the senseless horrible things she does, and it's hard to like a story when you hate the main character. She is literally my least favorite main character from any story I've ever read.
P.S. This is my personal opinion. Other people seem to like it. If you read Demon's Journey and liked it then you'll like this book as well. - FolkensedaiRoyal Road★★★ 2.5You can skip half the chapters as they are about the same thing told 2 times, so half the score.
