Two girls. Two pasts. One goal. Pip, a bright and determined legacy, and Vivainne, a quiet, cautious unknown find themselves on the same road, converging on a shared goal as they tackle the problems on their way to becoming the greatest version of themselves: Heroes.

Like her mother and grandmother before her, Pip has always known she would be a hero. The only thing standing in her way? High school. When she gets busted sneaking out and is grounded, Pip has to make amends... by helping a group of misfit teenage supers with less talent than her youngest sibling.

Vivainne has her own, much more disturbing, legacy—and unlike Pip, she wants hers gone. Her villainous mother must be stopped, and Vivainne risks her own dream of being a superhero to help bring her to justice. If she can't stop the woman who fractured her core and left her at risk of breaking every time she uses her power, her mother will go down as a saint, and Vivainne as a silent victim. And she refuses to go silently.

I adore this story, the tale of Pip and Viv is just getting started and I can already say it's one of my favorites. I want to see how the two grow and I'm especially excited to see when our main characters finally meet.
The style reminds me of some of my favorite Slice of Action books, and it lets me easily slip into the characters and feel entirely immersed in the world.
The grammar never got in the way of the story and was used to propel it forward for me.
I like the story though I can admit it can be a tad slow, even by the end of book one the characters haven't met yet, however I can say despite it being slow I never once thought about taking a break. All I wanted to do was read more.
As for the characters? There's so much I can say, the queer rep, the relatability, the teen characters dealing with the problems of teens, how they grow throughout the book, wrestle with who they are and who they want to be? All of it is perfect, it's like the characters really breathe.
I love this story, and it'll definitely be at the top of my lists even if not number one, and I'm excited to read the next book
