- Allen StarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the way this story is running so far, i would recommend it to anyone that likes litrpg and really hope this continues on for a long time. Main character is relatable and likable, very powerful and someone i really feel for. Cant wait for the new chapters to come.
- Kenny HughesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Absolutely brutal. I loved it. This book is not for the squeamish. But if you love bloody action and satisfying action then this is for you. It was like Kill Bill with a teenage girl. Dang it I still need ten more words to post this review. Uh... Bye bye now?
- LordB13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is starting off dark and gritty with an obvious theme of protecting ones family at any cost. I followed one of "dads" other stories and I am so glad I clicked the link to start this one. I usually have problems following a female lead but I sincerely doubt I will have that problem with this one. Might have to skip eating before I read a chapter it is getting pretty gruesome. TY for the hard work!
- jjhuttoRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Ok, address the elephant in the room first. The authors here are attempting to bring to life a nonstandard Main Character in a genre that is pretty much all twenty-something men and most of them are either ‘race not described’ or more or less caucasian. This does not make this story ANY better or worse. But it must be mentioned because it does make it different.
The feel of the decisions of a younger female protagonist, especially one that is so capable of making hard decisions is totally different for a reader than if this was a middle-aged man. I will keep spoilers out of it, but some of the choices she makes and thinks are reasonable in her extraordinary situation can very uncomfortable to read.
When I say this, I am not saying the story is poorly composed… quite the opposite, it is extremely evocative and hits some of its grittier notes and themes superbly. Just wanted to address this right out of the gate because of the lack of other reviews and it was something I found important to talk about.
Otherwise:
Story: Gripping and intriguing.
Style: at times a little confusing, but over all flows very well and keeps you moving through he narrative.
Story: Best part of this piece. Unique and powerful commentary on what any one of us are capable of when pushed.
Character: Not too much nuance here, but also not shallow. There is depth, it can just feel a little opaque at times.
Over all, definitely read this one if you are ready for a different flavor of LitRPG. It has been a refreshing take on the genre.
