Description
The blue and green moon shines down. Gods feud, dragons scheme, and prophecies are made. Magic is the life that runs through the world, humans, and fantastic creatures alike. Rosalea is born into the middle of conflict; everyone has a plan for her, a mold they need her to fit.
Pressure builds up around her, cutting her adrift from home or connection. She learns more about herself: who she is, what matters to her most, and what power she carries. But what will be the cost of defying expectations? What happens if you decide to disappoint Gods?
[[Some miscellaneous notes from the author here to you!
1. the story was a proud participant and winner of the 2022 writathon!
2. The gore is not in every chapter, and I do not focus on gore for the sake of gore. It is present, however, as a logical extension of injuries/deaths.
3. For those of you here for the LitRPG, welcome! These elements will start to become clearerallllthe way in chapter 76! The world starts out without those elements present in an obvious way, and then they become added. The book continues to uncover and explore more of these elements at a very slow pace, so you can see me establish the integration of the system within the world from the very beginning.)
4. Grimdark - kinda! There are some darker elements in this story, and as I am working to put the MC in an emotional place to defy Gods, she will lose innocence and naivety. I don't want the build up to fighting Gods (or injustices) to feel simple, cheap, or impulsive. I do not glorify violence, but violence occurs in some chapters. The world has dystopian elements (though this story is not conforming to the normal dystopian genre). It will be darkest before the dawn here!
Other than that! I hope that you have fun exploring this drama-filled, psychological fantasy series I am working on! Thanks for reading my note!]]
I am doing my best to write when I can! Things are hectic in my corporate job, so I am having to take on side projects.Have a lovely day and thanks for reading! <3

- Dingo_shablinkoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the first words, this story begins to expand its universe. This author sets up a beautifully detailed universe with well-considered characters that are compelling to read. In this book there are gods and dragons, shapeshifters and magicians, princesses and slaves.
The story is told from the third person perspective, with POVs from a few different people. The author highlights the POV changes clearly, and they are not confusing. There are quite a few specific terms with words in their own language which took me some time to assign and follow.
The author does not hold the reader’s hand and define everything for them. The exposition is natural and flows in piecemeal fashion, gradually exposing more and more of the world. This gives an impression of tremendous depth to the story.
The plot follows an unhappy princess who dreams of escaping the control of her minders. She is trapped in a bad situation and has no control over her own life. It is an easily relatable plot, and the author does a great job of immersing the reader into her feelings. The plot moves slowly, spending more time on the internal thoughts and reactions of the characters than in setting up action sequences. For me it made the setting more realistic.
The spelling is immaculate, but the sentence structure can get a bit tangled and overlong at times. Overall, the grammar was good enough that it never broke immersion for me.
The characters are vivid and well rounded. The author makes great use of emotional tension to drive the plot, and it all seems so lifelike.
This story has amazing depth and a plot that drags you in the deeper you go. I fully recommend it. - Fox13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am loving the story so far! The charaters all have personality and our young Roslea is one of the best. The adventure of this young girl and the different amounts of challenges she encounters as she navigates her own inner turmoil is something everyone can find something to empythizes with. The drama so far is intense well written where it just won't let you go. The wide range of emotions running through the book keeps me entrained and immersed. Each chapter keeps a steady flow and maintance pacing well.
I took the style count down by have a point because the sentences can get wordy here and there but that is only my personal prefrance. The wording and style are very good for this story and the writes uses them to great effect. Diligent readers will see the forshadowing and revilations creeping to their climax if they pay attention.
The writer listens to comments and applies edits where they are needed which is great! Most of those edits are for grammer and tense usage and they have been working on that improvment quickly and with gratitude for the followers that catch them so only a minor issue there.
My favorite part so far has to be where Rosalea meets the family in Mire. They provide her with such a warm welcome but feels a little shady (just enough). So when Kaylar shows up to the village it becomes clear what better way to make sure your duaghter isn't picked.... then to offer a dragon someone... tastier.
It makes me have to alway watch for not just what was written but how and I love that in a book! Keep it coming! - Jack0fheartRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Forging of a Sage is a captivating tale of adventure and self-discovery that takes place in a magical world filled with gods, dragons, and fantastic creatures. The protagonist Rosalea's journey to uncover her own identity and the consequences of defying expectations make for an exciting and thought-provoking read.
Overall score 5/5: this is a compelling story with a unique world-building and strong character development.
Style score:5/5: The writing style is captivating and draws the reader into the story from the first chapter. The characters are well-developed and the world-building is rich and detailed, making it easy to immerse oneself in the story.
Story score 5/5: The story is fast-paced and engaging, with the central conflict of a Myajac (God) struggling to make a new Myajac out of a human race. The twists and turns of the story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Grammar score 5/5: The grammar is excellent, making it easy to read and follow along. The writing is clear and concise, making the story a pleasure to read.
Character score 5/5: The characters are dynamic and well-rounded, making them easy to connect with. The protagonist, Rosalea, is a strong and determined young woman who is determined to discover the truth about her past and make a difference in the world.
In summary, The Forging of a Sage is a thrilling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The world-building is rich and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to become fully invested in the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting and engaging fantasy read! ♥ - NiralightshineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As a person who listened to everything you had up to I think chapter 5 on youtube. I can't wait to read more of this. And will leave a review as I can too while reading.
It is hard to believe that this person doesn't have more higher on the rankings. But she is very good at what shes writing and should be higher then this. - Second LawRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0With the first chapter bringing us right into the midst of beings of immense powers, this book is a true high fantasy adventure where the author clearly knows what they're doing.
Style : The writing style is impeccable. When you read a character who's a godly transcended being, you can tell just by the nature of it's thoughts and words. When you follow the perspective of nobility, the tone changes appropriately. And when you hear a servant speak, a rural tone can be felt. Overall, it makes for an engrossing reading experience and the skill of the author with words is enviable.
Grammar : As mentioned towards the end of the style section, the author is very adroit writer and the spelling and grammar is simply perfect.
Story : The story is developing along nicely, with the first few chapters having a relaxed pace and focusing more on setting up characters and the world they are placed in rather than advancing the plot. However, towards the end of chapter 3, things get into motion and I'm sure there will be a lot happening from here on.
Character : So far, a number of characters have been introduced, and all of them have been done well to the extent of however much 'screen time' they got. Rosalea is a standout among all the characters, and the one we get to see the most of. Her character is developed with great care and it shows, as I'm already very invested to know more of her history and see what perils and adventures await her. The book would get 5/5 on character based on just Rosalea alone, and the supporting cast is great too! - CatchingShadowsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a quick-paced high fantasy story in which a princess who has spent most of her life as a prisoner escapes her home/her captors after receiving clairvoyant dreams of what really happened when her mother died. I have read up to chapter twelve, and so far I've found it to be very interesting. The writer seems to be working with the tropes of "Two Magical Races in Conflict" and "There is a Prophecy About a Chosen One/the Fall of the Magical Race."
The style score gets a three. It's solid, but this is a case where there isn't enough information dumping. Granted, the character has apparently been living like a mushroom, (kept in the dark and fed...) but I feel like she should have a better idea of what "her" people are doing and what they're really like. A lot of story-telling is slipping in all of those little hints and details that tell the reader what's going on in the story.
The grammar score is also a three: I did not find any egregious errors, but grammar isn't my strong point. I didn't spot any typos or bad word choices. (Meaning, words that are close to correct, but actually don't mean precisely what the writer thinks they do.)
The story score gets a four! The story is very engaging so far, and I will read further along to see what happens next. The plot is interesting, and I want to find out what's going on. (I'm especially curious about the prolog/first chapter.) A slight nitpick: Rosalea is presumably being hunted but she isn't making a greater effort to disguise herself, or at least it isn't mentioned.
The character score is four and a half. Rosalea's interesting but very naive, which makes her both an interesting character but also a very frustrating one. Her motivations are clear in the sense she knows she wants to escape, but murkier in regards to her actual plans to survive.
