Working as a Jester has odd hours and odder customers, but the one thing that every job application for the position promises is *safety.* No executions, no unsavory attention, and certainly no shady dealings—let alone the strange bounty hunter who prowls through the town like the Grim Reaper himself.

Luc Hunt is all knives and velvet—and for some reason, he’s taken an interest in the jester with a sharp tongue and terrible survival instincts. Vie should be keeping her distance. Instead, she’s toeing the line between flirtation and fatal mistake.

In the meantime, he’s not just watching her—he’s hunting something. Vie just isn’t sure if he’s chasing the solution to the steward’s orders, his own whims, or the way she sounds when she laughs against his mouth.
