However, something evil is brewing in Lementum that could bring an end to both Rollie's new home and the Earth.

- Karmic_BacklashRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I want to start by saying that I really resonate with this story from as early as chapter 2, as you read the first few chapters you ge the impression that the mother is a bit of a mean person, but you later learn why and it kind of hits hard.
The grammar and style are good, there are a few times where it feels like the dialogue is a bit stilted at times and sometimes words are missing. Otherwise it's fine. I'd like a bit more description of his surroundings at times because it feels like the story hard cuts every time the MC needs to walk.
Character wise, damn, everyone in this story hits a bit close to home and I could personally relate to the pain of a toxic home. Where not everyone is an asshole all the time and do try to help, but there is that undercurrent of infection that makes everything stressful. As though at any time you could make a mistep and set off a powder keg.
I did knock half a start off for the style and grammar. Only because they serve their purpose and don't really add anything. While I often say too much prose is a bad thing, none at all is bad in the oppisite direction. I encourage the writer to take some time in the coming chapters and really hone in on the personal feelings of the MC, instead of just his reactions. - TimSudaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This extremely well written story is the most realistic story about teenagers who attend a school of magic that I've ever read. There are so many stories, novels, movies about magic schools, wizards, and witches, but this one feels like it could be real to me. It can be as whimsical as a Terry Pratchett story, but still grounded.
Each of the characters feels really true and is nostalgic of the individuals I hung out with while I was in school. I feel so connected with Rollie and every step that he takes and decision that he makes is something that I could see myself doing. Without giving away any of the story in the review, the character development is top notch; so keep paying attention to the details – both big and small.
The plot arcs keep me interested so much that I hate waiting for the next chapter's release. I continue to enjoy where the story leads. There are many twists that you don't expect but truly fit in perfectly!
The writing style that Randall uses is easily digestible and shows true skill and experience in writing fantasy. I think this would make a great audiobook one day once it is fully completed
I look forward to continuing reading! - JusttryingtofindawayRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall this story is quite good. From the characters to the descriptions of settings and dialogue this story has a few things going for it. There's solid buildup and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it as the story continues to progress. Im intrigued by the magic as well. Still sort of a mystery.
Style: Theres good flow in the descriptions and the dialogue as well as character interactions. I only wish there were more detailed descriptions of the settings in which things take place. Theres good action, and lifelike reactions to things, but I just wish there was more.
Story: Rock solid all the way through. I love the mohawk and the punk rocking style, I can just visualize the mc perfectly and I love how realistically people react to said magic. Very well done.
Grammar: I saw no critical errors, only a small handful of issues that would be easily wrapped up by an additional passover but its not a reason to not read the story.
Character score: This one hurt a little to write but I want to know more of the MC's feelings and emotions as he comes upon the magic, as he struggles with his family life and highschool. It does at times feel like the author is writing physical reactions over mental ones. Still a great character and I cant wait to see more from Rollie - crackheadRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Ok I like what I am seeing, young teen hot headed chap who loves ruff sports. we are still in the world buiding but looks like a good story to me and I think anyone would enjoy this story.
