This story starts out as a dystopia.  People are sitting alone in their rooms in their Everything Chairs which provide everything for them.  Nutrition, medicine and waste are all taken care of.
Both work and play take place in virtual worlds.
Advertising is everywhere, all the time.  It is obviously context-sensitive targetted ads like we have yet to see in our world.
The main character seems content enough.  He has work to do that seems OK and free time to enjoy his salary.  And the ads are there, but he ignores most and buys some stuff that he likes and can afford.
One of the things I liked is that the author manages to make this world very believable.  There is a very strong feeling that this is a possible future for us.
Then the main character has a minor malfunction with his Chair and a repairman comes.  A repairman who walks on his own two feet and uses his own two hands to fix things.  Shocking.
This must be a Purist!  The main character has heard of Purists but only as objects of ridicule, not normal people doing normal jobs.
I'll stop here before moving into spoiler territory.  Some things are predictable, some things are surprises.
The story comes a natural end and stops. Not all authors manage that.
The author claims that their English is rough.  I disagree, it is good.
