The Eternal Seeker Saga

Description
In a universe where Earth is nothing but a distant memory, and humanity is clawing its way back from a million years long interstellar dark age, Sarah Ciel-étoilé is but a humble mercenary. For 60 years, her crew of exiles has followed her onboard their stolen military gunship, theEternal Seeker. But now, a threat like they have never seen before is rising.
The Dominion, an intergalactic empire over a millenia old, is dying. Its catastrophic civil war almost brought it to total collapse, and it endures only through the strength of its navy. But that strength is waning. Throughout the Dominion's Protectorate, whispers of a revolution are spreading, and insurrections are flaring up, as a conspiracy set on casting down the Dominion and burning it to the ground set its plan into motion.
Yet, behind all the chaos and the destruction, something far more sinister brews in the shadows, and it could change the face of the universe forever.
This is the story of Sarah, and her mercenaries, during these troubled and dark times, as empires fall...and others rise.

- ChristopherCravenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows a Mercenary Captain and her crew and ship which is a Spec. Op Ship from a Technology more advanced empire than the Galaxy the story plays right now in.
The characters are well made as usual and develop but not as much as some would say they should simply because with the advanced technology comes a longer life and her "short" mercenary carrier is longer than many human lives right now and it is hinted that she and her Crew already had their fair share of atrocities to life to life through before they left their home and since.
I don´t have time for an advanced review right now but will definitely come back for it.
It is not Seargont Schlock; it is more realistic and the tech is more crazy but still realistic so to speak( fit the universe shown).
If you like sci-fi in space, with space battles, terrorists, smugglers and crime syndicates and greater forces plotting, Last stands and heavy weaponry and military tech deployed against people to smug to realize how outgunned they are... and the occasionally reverse you should start reading the chapters and not this! - Cpt ObviousRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a sci-fi set in a galaxy far far away...
Heck, it's not even in our own dimension. Still it once we're part of the now fallen Terran empire.
Terra rose and Terra fell, leaving behind millions of galaxies where almost all colonized systems had been shattered in the wars fought over the remains. Human colonies fell into a dark age losing history and knowledge. Eventually some colonies started to claw their way back to the stars, reaching beyond their own galaxies and even traversing the dimensions again. Federations, Dominions and Empires rose and fell. Some grew stronger, larger and more powerful, but none has yet found the outer worlds that the Terran empire once claimed.
This is epic scale space opera. The Sci part of Sci-fi is very loosely adhered to. There are interstellar, intergalactical and inter dimentional travel, and wars...
Tech ranges from combustion engines to compact fusion powered personal force shields. But not even the most high tech civilisation comes close to what the Terran empire once had.
The author has poured a lot of effort into creating the world lore, and has been portioning it out in the story. We're following a mercenary company with a past history in the near verge. Exiled they are plying their trade, try to finance the upkeep of their ship and stay ahead of enemies they've made.
It is well written. There are some grammatical errors but nothing that's in anyway disturbing.
As for style... Give it a try. The first few chapters give you a good idea of what you can expect. Personally I like it. The pacing is good, it doesn't bog down with micro management detail or longwinded descriptions of clothes, colors, buildings or ships. So your own fantasy gets to fill in a lot of the blanks, and I like that.
Now I rated this a 5 because I think it deserves that given how the voting system works.
The ranking system here on RR is a bit lacking in my opinion. The way most people vote it could just as well have had three steps instead of five. 1 - IrjaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follow MC pov. Sometime it switch to other pov to give readers some idea of whats going on or whats gonna happen. No lengthy side pov.
Theres some explanation of the technologies, but none too lengthy. Again, just enough to give readers ideas on whats going on.
Also, the story focus on action, as in marines in power armor shooting and ship battle.
The synopsis pretty much explain whats going on. So, if u like the idea of mercenary ship stumbling upon a plot to overthrow a space-nation, then read this good novel. Its worth it. - KarmaARoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you're looking for some light sci-fi about a plucky band of mercs roaming the galaxy in a sweet ship this is perfect. Good guys are good, bad guys are bad without all being cartoons, and stuff gets blown up. A bit like a Kris Longkife book if (when?) she had some BA power armor.
Author has put a ton of detail and depth into the background and we're gradually seeing more and more of it. It'll be interesting to see how it influences the story going forward. First few arcs have been fun.
Only negatives are a few word choice or idiom issues but they're not bad enough to ruin the experience. - RicklaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Or "the problem of having to much firepower"(hint you incinera the loot).
Firstly, as it says on the cover. This is a space opera, and it's good. So welcome to the sci-fi corner.
The story (and the author, can't forget that) flawlessly blends cutthroat merc action and dark humor, with light-hearted slice of life and really well made characters. Served in a massive, well written, complex and colorful universe(s). And not to forget, a big helping of way to heavy guns on top.
Not to forget is that this story is shown through character interactions. Thus it doesn't tell the story by a grand total war narative. Instead it's the story of the ship the "Ethernal seeker" and its crew and follows them in the action packed day to day of a merc company.
As a bonus the author have made some of the best written, complex and realistic character relationships I have read. - TremuistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We get to follow a group of the one of most experienced and geared mercenaries around. Taking on enemies, and jobs, we get to see them unleash orbital bombardments, tank hits from nuclear warheads from their ship, as well as launch ground operations in mech suits. This shit is dope, and it's just the start. There'll also be some ship to ship combat.
I highly recomend ! - jamolayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very well developed and thoughtful world with developed characters, human interactions, depth and a good pace. I have enjoyed it so far and there are good hints that here is a lot more to come. Clicks all the sci-if boxes! Thanks! I look forward to continuing to read. Glad this is here.
- Dragon_ANGLRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5In the vein of Horatio Hornblower, Honor Harrington, the Lightnings, the Tank Lords, and other ventures, this is a space opera writ large! Much larger than most other science fiction out there - compared to the single galaxy most science fiction contains, this one contains muiltiple thousands of galaxies - though the story thus far only spans a single galaxy.
To be fair, this is an opera, not a action/adventure thriller. There's no constant thrill of battle and adventure, not many planet escapades. There's a plot, and little character development. It's not a litRPG - there are no stats that climb regardless of the characters' reality. The main character starts after her own main plot has seemingly come to an end - bits and pieces of her backstory are fed to the readers through the chapters.
So far, most of the ones portrayed as the "villains" of the story have been smart ones, if keeping true to the bell curve and having far too many underestimate a 'mere' gunship when the true capital ships of the line of the prime fleet of the multi-galaxy federation are STAR-sized.
Looking forward to more shenanigans of
the former special ops crew gone rogue in a Q-ship! - DirkmRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5An enjoyable writing style, believable characters and a hu_u_uge canvas. Somewhat standard Space Opera but I am enjoying it, and looking forward to see how the story develops. Only drops the half star because it hasn't yet shown its unique brilliance yet.
Other reviews cover the story details so I see no need to repeat them. - James - Mostly HarmlessRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a well done space adventure, well worth reading! The characters are not flat, thè battles are well done, and the universe which the characters are in is huge with a deep history. The author is in many ways comparable in skill and worldbuilding to Weber when he wrote the Dahak books, so I look forward to his continued growth.
