The Ensnared Twins of Shala

On the year 310 since Kafar mandated years to be counted, two of their concubines sat on birthing chairs.

Both betrayed by kin, exiled for petty reasons, were left to suffer childbirth on their own, as they cried tears of anguish for weeks on end.

"Let them live, oh Ra'shala, oh Me'shala!

"Please let them be friends, never scheme to one another.

"Please let them be together, until Uri'shala takes them away!"

And a spirit borne of sadness met a spirit of compassion. They called out to the silent gods.

Amongst the many odd things that happened on the year 0 since Gods started talking back, two childs of different mothers dropped into the mold beds.

They had two very tangled souls.

To read: Itallics are thoughts, each color a different character. If there are many colors on the same paragraph, the thoughts are happening simultaneously. I wanted to use tables, but they do not look good at all for this.

Edit: as of the 12th of june, 2025, I am still writing this story. The "hiatus" will probably last another year or so though.
