A man left at his lowest point, his history known by few and he has a lot of questions he needs to answer without alerting the wrong people, or other things around the world. Somehow he has to find out what exactly he saw amongst ongoing conflicts between shattered races on a dying world.

This story is intended to introduce a cast of characters important to the game of chess on the world stage, which has bigger stakes than any of them know.
