Description

What happens when the hero's journey ends with disappointment instead of happily ever after?

Ghost. Butcher. Murderer. Some men attract names like flies, and Ryu Ishida unfortunately finds himself among their number. Once the son of a noble house, he knows firsthand what the quest for power in the world of the Rings can do to a man’s mind, yet he can only continue down the bloody path he started long ago, hoping that at its finish, he’ll find the end to his disappointment.

Four hundred years after a portion of humanity was ripped from Earth and thrust into a world of magic, monsters, and swords, whatever cruel gods rule the Rings are stirring once more, and with them comes the chaos of progress.

Monsters roam the land. Corruption breeds unchecked. Murderers slay their way to the heights of power.

Ryu’s life could only be described as disappointing.

Honestly quite suprised this story has a lackluster audience. It has a decent plot and a "show not tell" format of writing. Granted it has its share of limitations but doesn't hamper your immersion.....most of the time.
Story centers around a broken man as he tries to find meaning in a grimdark fantasy world where he battles monsters in the world and the monster that he has become.
The first bulk of chapters recounts his past experiences that led to him to become husk of a man he once was. Now there are quite a few times where the flow of the story did not seem to fit, and a few information are lacking here and there. Luckily, the author was quick to note my comment and provided additional information, even promised to rewrite those sections for the readers clarity.
Still those things are immediately offsetted by well-thought and decently written fights. MC is a cold calculating beast and it shows.
All in all this story can give those at the trending page a run for their money. Sadly a troll bombed the review rating so I'm here to tell you it ain't so bad and you may give a try.

This is a great book. It has many of the things I was looking for in an antihero protag. For people who like Godclad or Island Core, this is a definite read. Looking forward for the return of the author as I hope the next book will be as great as the last two.

This novel truly live up to it name Disappointing.
    1. When I read this novel I can skim through without needing to remember the detail
    2. The way that the author arrange the chapter between the MC past and present life is rather plain I recomment the author should read Infinite Realm: Monsters & Legends for some inspiration for your novel
Overall this novel like a diamond in the rough it possess great potential and ideals, but it was executed unsuccessfully with some polishing and sharpening this novel will achieve greatness
